Welcome to the Late May Bank Hol 2025 Brain Teaser

The Brain Teaser is open to all members of the 02 Community.

Those wishing to take part must pm [private message] me [@Mi-Amigo] with their answers between

       9 am today [Mon 26 May 2025] and 9 pm Wed 28 May 2025

so those who are busy or out-and-about will have a chance to join in.

Please DO NOT post answers on the thread.

Q1 Norma planned to visit four towns over the Bank Holiday  - HOVE; MINEHEAD; ST IVES; EXMOUTH

        and in each town would buy a souvenier.

      In HOVE, she would spend £5 on a souvenier; in MINEHEAD £1; in ST IVES £4

      How much will Norma spend on a souvenier in EXMOUTH ?

 

Q2 What is the missing number in the following sequence - [as shown by ?? ]

Q3 Which is the odd one out in the following

        ASTON VILLA; BOURNEMOUTH; LIVERPOOL; NOTTINGHAM FOREST; TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

 

Q4 On Wednesday, Mrs Williams went to the hairdressers. Chatting to the hairdresser, Mrs William said

        "All but two of my daughters has red hair. All but two of my daughters is blonde. All but two of my

           daughters is brunette"

        How many daughters does Mrs Williams have ?

 

Q5 Sue and Ruth like to go shopping on one day a week, but Sue and Ruth go shopping on different days.

      Neither Sue nor Ruth goes shopping on Friday.

      On which day of the week does Sue go shopping ? 

 

Q6 Janet has a box of 6 eggs. Janet breaks 2 eggs; cooks 2; and eats 2 eggs.

      How many eggs does Janet have left ?

 

Q7 A bus is at Uptown Bus Station for the journey to Downtown. There are 4 stops between Uptown and

      Dowtown. 10 people get on the bus at Uptown Bus Station and pay the driver for their fares.

      At the first stop, 2 people get off and 3 get on. At the second stop, 4 get off and 2 get on.

      At the third stop, 3 people get off and 1 gets on. At the 4th stop, all but 2 get off, none get on.

      How many people are on the bus when it arrives at Downtown Bus Staion ?

 

Q8 Which word is the odd one out in the following list

       CHIPS   PIE    SODA    SPONGE    TOFFEE

 

Q9 Which is the odd one out in the following list

        KID   LAMB    CALF   PIGLET    CUB

 

Q10 Sally and her brother Simon take their dog Scruff for a one hour walk/run.

        Sally jogs at an average of 8 miles per hour, while Simon walks at an average of 4 mph.

        Scruff runs at a constant 10 mph back and forth between Sally and Simon and does not stop or

        takes a break. 

        After 1 hour, how far has Scruff run ?

A2  253. Given numbers are number x 11.

Well I did better than I thought I would, (even if I did forget the blumming driver of the bus!!)

Also thought Soda was the only liquid and Cub was the only animal not found on a farm. 😂

It's not that they are difficult as such @Mi-Amigo.

With me, it's making sure my brain works the same way as yours. 😂

For instance I know I got one question correct but for a completely different reason to the one you gave.
