Further to that *bl**p* thread...........

Anonymous
Not applicable

I noticed that a thread has recently been closed because it was deemed to be "getting a little fruity" (SIC).

Not being familiar with that term "fruity" used in such a context I had to look it up and apparently it means:-

Informal or slang term meaning insane, strange, eccentric or stupid

So, my questions are:-   Which of these applies?  And what does the "management's" intervention say about the contributors to the thread, and in particular about the "reward earning" contributors?

For clarity I was the member who had several issues with moderation (relax @Toby - not going there lol).

Whilst we may or may not agree with actions taken by moderators, they are there for a reason and have a role to play.

In this case Toby had closed the thread as it wasn't going anywhere, it was suggested in the thread that bleeped words should not be bleeped but they are for a reason. What was the point of this thread if not to openly challenge a decision?

It is another one of those threads that aren't going to improve things and probably should also be closed. Guidelines state we should not discuss moderation openly in the Community.

Whilst we may or may not agree with actions taken by moderators, they are there for a reason and have a role to play.   I heartily agree and so far as I know nobody has suggested otherwise - why raise it?

In this case Toby had closed the thread as it wasn't going anywhere, it was suggested in the thread that bleeped words should not be bleeped but they are for a reason. What was the point of this thread if not to openly challenge a decision?    Please see below for a further explanation.

It is another one of those threads that aren't going to improve things  and probably should also be closed.   I do not mind in the slightest if  this thread is closed,  but if "improvement of things" is to be a criterion as to whether threads are closed this forum is going to be pretty damned empty. Guidelines state we should not discuss moderation openly in the Community.

When I opened this thread I made 2 statements of fact - (1)I noticed that a thread has recently been closed because it was deemed to be "getting a little fruity"   and (2)

Not being familiar with that term "fruity" used in such a context I had to look it up and apparently it means:-

Informal or slang term meaning insane, strange, eccentric or stupid".

Neither of those statements could in any way be interpreted as questioning, challenging or criticising the decision and action of the "management" or indeed of the Community Guidelines.

I then posed a couple of questions which did not relate to the closure of the other thread or to the rights of the management to take the action they took or to the Community Guidelines.   I simply asked whether the fact that certain contributions to that thread had been regarded as "insane, strange, eccentric or stupid" this might say something about the authors of those contributions, some of whom have been regular recipients of Community rewards ( another fact - not an opinion and not a criticism.)

I hope that this will clear the matter up once and for all.
