Football Talk

Thought I would start off a thread, bit of friendly banter not too heavy and an opportunity to express your ideas about your favourite team.

What are you hoping for in the January transfer market?

As a Liverpool fan I am hoping for cover for Mane and the front 3.

Completely forgot about the bonus for Leicester. Interesting though Spurs still manage to the worse-off party in still being in the Europa conference league playoffs that nobody wants to watch. Oh well, looking forward the Euro's so time to plan the TV schedule.

As the Euro Football started yesterday, there was absolute horror on the pitch halfway through the match between Finland and Denmark.

Denmarks star player Christian Erikson collapsed on the pitch with a suspected cardiac arrest. The Danish players formed a privacy ring round Erikson whilst the medical staff worked on him giving him CPR.

Aged 29, this was awful to see.

Christian was rushed to hospital where he was stabilised and eventually woke up.

This news was quickly passed on to the team and fans.

Both teams were keen to resume the match and UEFA gave permission.

Finland went on to win 1-0 but as a Danish fan was heard to say....'today we lost a match but a life was saved' A great sentiment really.

Thank you for the post ^^^ @Cleoriff

I watched the game on TV and it was horrifying to see.

Thank God for the medical staff who attended to Christian Erickson.

My thoughts go out to Christian and his family. I hope he recovers soon pray

So sad to watch it all unfold
Unfortunately it's unlikely we will see him play football again
A great talent too
He would have been taking the penalty....

Lineker was forced to apologise for the BBC showing the whole thing as it unfolded but explained that the TV panel had no control over that.

A bit weak really, as he is one of the highest paid people on the sports panel, I'm sure they could have switched to some other discussion had he bothered to ask!?
