Thought I would start off a thread, bit of friendly banter not too heavy and an opportunity to express your ideas about your favourite team.

What are you hoping for in the January transfer market?

As a Liverpool fan I am hoping for cover for Mane and the front 3.

Absolutely bloody fantastic !!!

11 English girls shut 75,000 Aussies up with brilliant game of football.

The Lionesses ate the Matildas for lunch 😋 soccer

Bring on Spain on Sunday.

World Cup. Play Off For 3rd place.

AUSTRALIA v SWEDEN

Sweden won this match 2-0. Australia looked nothing like the team who played England on Weds. They played as if we had knocked the stuffing out of them. The second goal for Sweden was a penalty. I didn't think it was. The Swedish girl tripped over her own feet!

Anyway that was the finish for Australia. I expect they will be cheering for England tomorrow.😂

WORLD CUP FINAL

SPAIN v ENGLAND.

It's not coming home as Spain won 1-0. To be honest they were the better team today. Sorry to say that England didn't play as well as normal. Mary Earps was exceptional. Saved a penalty and numerous other shots  on goal. Has won the Golden Glove award for the tournament at the presentation.

WORLD CUP FINAL 2023

Gutted at The Lionesses not winning.

England began with the right line-up in my opinion. Hemp just missed scoring.

Then heads dropped when Spain scored.

Mary Earp was outstanding inc saving the penalty and richly deserves the Golden Gloves.

Mary Earps has won Sports Personality of The Year 2023.

Well deserved as she was outstanding in the World Cup this year.

Stuard Broad was 2nd

Katerina Johnson Thompson was 3rd.

Brilliant to see Mary Earps voted Sports Personality of the Year. Well deserved. Best goalkeeper in the world, and a role model for all the kids.

Third year in a row that a woman has been voted Sports Personality, and for two years running on of the Lionesses has won.

And not forgetting Sir Kenny Dalglish [King Kenny] of LIVERPOOL fame was awarded Life Time Achievement award.

oh and some team, its manager, and one of its players picked up awards too... just can`t remember [or bring myself to mention] the names 😂

Interesting also to see Fatima Whitbread receiving an award too. Many will remember the great Coe/Ovett/Cram duels of the late 1970s and 1980s, but British athletics was also fortunate to have battles, occasionally acrimonious but always riveting, between Fatima Whitbread and Tessa Sanderson.

They were the halycon days of British athletics, with Daley Thompson at his peak too. For those too young to remember, just think of cycling ten or so years ago when GB was dominant.

Yes I remember those days @Oxonian ....but nothing can beat the 2012 Olympics.

What a blast that was.

Being one of the "oldies", I too remember those days of the athelic battles of the 70s and 80s.
