So breaking news before the start of the 2024 season:
Lewis Hamilton appears to be making a move to Ferrari for the 2025 season
A major shock as he signed a two year contract with Mercedes last season. So whether it was one year with an opt out clause for 2025 is anyone's guess.
This seems to be anything but a silly season rumour!

NB As Charles Leclerc has just signed a contract extension with Ferrari, it looks as if Lewis would be replacing Carlos Sainz.
It won't be a popular move. Also, not sure how Mercedes will handle that news THIS year as Lewis is driving for them until the end of 2024.
Will they put all their eggs in George Russells basket? (Hamilton came 3rd in the drivers championship last year and Russell came 8th)

QUALIFYING.
A few shocks in this session. Sainz and Hamilton were knocked out in Q2. To add to that, Lewis was given a 3 place grid penalty for impeding Perez. Then Albon was disqualified for running an illegal floor. So everyone below Albon moves up a place as he drops to the back of the grid.

RACE. ZANDVOORT
A good race. Max had a better start and was in the lead before the first bend.
On lap 18 with a real fast car, Lando overtook Max and stayed in the lead. Dominant finish 22 seconds ahead of Max.
Lewis moved from 15th to 8th and was holding the fastest lap until Lando took it just before the chequered flag.
George Russell started 4th and due to a late pit stop, lost position and finished 7th just ahead of his team mate.

Breaking News
Williams have dropped Logan Sargeant from the team. This has surprised no real F1 fan. Logan was the only US driver on the grid and no secret that his money helped him get the seat at Williams. However he crashes more than he drives and has cost Williams millions in repairs to his car. For a money conscious outfit like Williams where every penny counts, his crashes were no longer sustainable. Add to this, he hadn't scored a single point for the team.
He is being replaced by F2 driver Franco Colapinto 21, from Argentina
We are at Imola in Italy this weekend. Best of luck to Franco.

F1 Imola.
Practice 1 was quite eventful.
Kimi Antonelli the F2 driver who is tipped to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes took Russells car for his first session in F1.
Kimi went to the top of the time sheets on his first run and was going purple in his second run, when he lost control of the car. Smashed into the barrier at Parabolica and that was the end of his session after 10 minutes.
George Russell looked shocked, probably hoping there was no engine or gearbox damage.
I felt really sorry for Kimi. He's Italian and obviously was hoping to perform well in front of his home crowd. The kid is only just turned 18 so will be feeling more than upset.
The other rookie, Colapinto, who replaced Sargeant at Williams, did a little better.

Well he was yesterday @pgn
He took over Russells car for P1 and smashed it up. 😂
He was so upset but the boss Toto Wolff said 'These things happen. I'd rather tell him to slow down than tell him to speed up'.
Kimi is still driving in F2 until the end of the season.
Also 4 people crashed out between the two Practice sessions but no-one mentions those far more experienced drivers. 🤣
