So breaking news before the start of the 2024 season:

Lewis Hamilton appears to be making a move to Ferrari for the 2025 season

A major shock as he signed a two year contract with Mercedes last season. So whether it was one year with an opt out clause for 2025 is anyone's guess.

This seems to be anything but a silly season rumour!

NB As Charles Leclerc has just signed a contract extension with Ferrari, it looks as if Lewis would be replacing Carlos Sainz.

It won't be a popular move. Also, not sure how Mercedes will handle that news THIS year as Lewis is driving for them until the end of 2024.

Will they put all their eggs in George Russells basket? (Hamilton came 3rd in the drivers championship last year and Russell came 8th)

AUSTRIA F1 (SPRINT FORMAT)

PRACTICE 1 (The only practice session before Sprint Qualifying)

George Russell moaning AGAIN about being sent out into traffic.

SPRINT QUALIFYING (sets the grid for the 27 lap Sprint Race tomorrow.

Hamilton was leading in the 3rd session but had his lap deleted for exceeding track limits!

SPRINT RACE :  AUSTRIA.

QUALIFYING AUSTRIA:

Piastri was 3rd but relegated to 7th for exceeding track limits! That pushed Russell into 3rd.

RACE AUSTRIA.

What a race. Max leading all the way with Norris chasing him down. 8 laps from the end Lando attempts an overtake and gets pushed off by Max. Tries again, same thing happens, on the third attempt Norris gets passed him but bumps into him and they both get punctures. Norris retires, Max has a change of tyres but too late. (The stats below don't show that Max was given a 10 second penalty for his crashes into Norris.)

Russell was in 3rd, picks up the pieces of that fracas and drives to win.

Penalties galore incling a 10 sec penalty for Lewis for crossing the white line at the pit entrance. He gets 4th

A very wet and windy Practice 3. Just the weather Lewis loves.

QUALIFYING SILVERSTONE.

What a great hour of qualifying. Wet and dry. Shocks exits... ie Perez out in Q1 after beaching himself in the gravel. Leclerc out in Q2 and finally, 3 Brits take the top 3 positions.

For one gorgeous second Lewis was on pole until George pulled out a cracking lap.

Forgot to mention, Lewis and George went to the Mercedes fanzone post qualifying fot a Q& A session. They couldn't understand why they were booed!!.

Looked at the massive TV screen and realised the England Match was still on. They sat on the stage and watched the Penalty shoot out and cheered along with everyone else when England won.

Great of Silverstone to show the match. I doubt they expected it to run overtime though!!
