dancing on ice 23.png

I have all the info about the new series which starts in January 2023.

I will write about the contestants later but wanted to get the thread started.

The judges are Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo.

Presenters are unchanged with Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield.

We appear to only have 11 contestants this year, unless they have another one, yet to be revealed?

Checking them over, there will many comments such as 'Who the  hell are they?'

All I will say, until my next post, we have

A Drag Artist

A The Wanted band member

A Love Island Contestant

An actress from Corrie

A retired Footballer

An Olympian

A Liberty X singer

A Comedian

A Hollyoaks actress

A Towie 'star'

An Actress ( retired) from Eastenders (now a DJ)

More to follow .... (I bet you can't wait @Mi-Amigo @sheepdog) 😂

Based on those music choices which are mainly awful, it really is Mollie's best chance to avoid the skate off this week. Can see a lot of mistakes happening which will have the marking all over the place. Will be missing the live broadcast on Sunday unfortunately so may not reply till Monday.

I will be about to do the write up this Sunday. However, the F1 season begins the following Sunday in Bahrain and the race begins at 4pm. Two weeks later and in Saudi Arabia the race starts at 5pm. So I will be recording both weeks of DOI.

PROPS WEEK.

Mollie and Sylvain- Prop- Airport Trolley.

Good confident skate with an excellent trolley lift at the end. Needs to skate more on her own. Scored 33.0

Carley and Mark. -Prop Feather Boa.

Skated well although had a few stumbles (or as Chris called them 'mishaps') Despite that Scored 34.5

The Vivienne and Colin - Prop The Chequred Flag.

Excellent fast skate. Really enjoyed it. Pity they dropped the flag once. Scored 35.5

Nile and Olivia. Prop- Double bed.

Superb Skate but did NOT use the prop much. (Beginning and end) They did what they were asked last week which was to skate more together Scored 37.5

Joey and Vanessa -Prop- Surf Board.

What an excellent skate with a very difficult prop. In control of that board at all times. Scored 36.5 (underscored in my opinion)

Siva and Klebara - Prop - An Oar.

Easiest prop of all of them. Skated well with a good rotational lift. Scored 34.0

Next week the remaining couples will skate twice. Once with partner and once alone. There will be a double elimination.

Skate off  :

Carley and Mark

Siva and Klebara.

Carley's shoulder slight dislocation during skate.

Siva and Klebara won the skate off. Correct decision.

Looking forward to next week.

Thank you for the write up @Cleoriff

My thoughts...

Mollie - great skate - underscored. Bottom in leader board. Well pleased saved by public vote.

Carley - at last criticism from judges - overscored. Quite right in skate off and right to be sent home.

The Vivienne - great, fast skate - agreed with judges` vote

Nile - good skate but not much use of prop - agreed with judges` vote

Joey - excellent skate and great use of prop - underscored.

Siva - not a great skate and with easiest prop. Deserved to be in skate off, which was better than Carley`s.

Double elimination next week ? Gonna be interesting as all will up their game; can`t even guess who might be in skate-off.

I get the feeling that next week will be the last for Mollie and Siva @Mi-Amigo

I'm so pleased that Carley left before Mollie and yes Siva and Klebara did an excellent save me skate tonight.

So, tonights props ranged from the ridiculous surfboard to un-challenging chequered flag and feather boa? eh?

Nice to see Philip Schofield not only in a suit & tie AND colour co-ordinated with Holly. Which is a pity she wore a 50-50 dress that equally had no style. Bring back the rainbow bacofoil! Lapel mic placement was way too easy tonight.  As for Moti, she gets this weeks uncanny resemblance award:

crystal-tipp-hide-r-c

Actually, is that a goatee on Alistair 😉

Onto tonights skates:

Mollie: vast improvement on the confidence and skating BUT will it be enough as Slyvan seemed to do a lot of the work. She slotted in quite nicely with the pro skaters.

Carley: A feather boa???? Have to say either the judges intentionally picked this one to make her safe or the other choice was  a white feather boa. Routine really didn't say it was enough to stay out of the skate-off out of the two skates so far.

Bo(tox) Selecta: A flag? Again, this a prop that said skate-off for me. Too much hold-the-flag-out-wide although the hair whip was unexpected. I'll stick by what I said last week and I think he's plateau-ed.

Nile: Double bed! Good routine and I can't disagree with judges comments saying the bed was the least involved of the segment. Clever use in the story telling and quite enjoyable though could have skated a lot more around the bed.

Joey: Whoever thought of a surf board was having a laugh. And so was I. Totally enjoyable and by far the best usage of said prop and of the night from beginning to end. Should have scored higher.

Siva: This is very nice but very nice can also be boring. Not much done with the prop in all honesty. Unless something spectacular happens, next week is the final stop.

Pre-results reveal routine: was it me or did the pro skaters bring their own clothes to the routine? Holly should probably skip the talk-to-a-celeb bit as it is a bit cringey and awkward.

Carley v Siva was a easy choice even though Siva repeated last week's skate-off. Carley's was just all throw my hands in the air like I just don't care. Which is right and I didn't. With next week's double elimination and double skate that included a solo, it was this week or next week for the exit.

Can see Nile or Joey sailing through next week but it could come down to who makes the least mistakes and who can pull out a party trick to surprise us all. Yeah so not looking good for Mollie or Siva at the moment.

@sheepdog

I agree about the 'talk  to the celeb' segment. Particularly as David Neilson who plays Roy Cropper in Corrie is  the Uncle of Nina (Mollie Gallagher). When Holly asked if he thought Mollie had done enough in tonights skate, he fumbled and mumbled and replied 'they had all done well' 😂

Bless him, he was more Roy Cropper than David Neilson. 🤣

MUSIC FOR SEMI-FINAL

Siva and Klebara   GOLD FOREVER (for Tom) The Wanted.

Mollie and Sylvain  MY IMMORTAL BY EVANESCENCE

Nile and Olivia.  IN MY BLOOD BY SHAWN MENDEZ

The Vivienne and Colin OVER THE RAINBOW BY EVA CASSIDY.

Joey and Vanessa. HIGH BY THE LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY

@Mi-Amigo @sheepdog

I know they are doing 2 dances but only showing music for one skate. This will be an emotional performance for Siva. As you know, Tom Parker was a member of the Wanted and he died last year of a brain tumour. He was only 33.

However, the couples are dancing together once and then the celebs are skating alone, so I expect their skates will include elements of judges challenge?

@Cleoriff @sheepdog

Thank you @Cleoriff  for the info on songs for this week

As it`s a double elimination, I assume one with lowest total score will be immediately eliminated and then the next two will have skate-off.

If that`s the case, I have a horrible feeling Mollie might avoid being immediately eliminated but could be in the skate off.

Seems to me, more than likely, that Niles and Joey will be in the final.
