The first of 12 contestants has been announced for the new series starting in 2021

Myleene Klass

myleene klass dancing on ice 2021

The judging panel remains the same as last year with Torvill and Dean, AShley Banjo and John Barrowman.

It will be hosted by Phil and Holly.

I read somewhere there will be a change in professional skaters. Not sure of all of them, though I do know that Alex Murphy who partnered Joe Swash to his unexpected win last year, has not been asked to return!

Don't the judges know a slow dance / ice skate and for that matter any musician knows:

A slow dance / skate / tune is more difficult than a fast tempo one

Why ..... ? because you can't disguise a fluff-up in slow tempo ... therefore ... good technique needed.

My comments on last night`s show...

Joe-W and Vanessa - brilliant. deserved to be top of the leaderboard.

Colin and Klebara - excellent and as I thought are going to be the ones to watch out for.

Amy and Joe - great first skate and, imo, the suprise of the night.

Jason - poor performance. should have been in the skate-off

Rebekah - sorry didn`t rate her skate and found it boring.

Graham - not very good and imo deserved to be in skate-off.

As Jason escaped being booted off thanks to public vote, the skate off was between Rebekah and Graham and, imo, by a narrow margin Graham was the right choice to leave.

After tonight`s show, I`ve now got two favourite yahoo Joe-W and Amy.

Looking forward to next week`s skating.

@Mi-Amigo  @Anonymous

My favourites remain Kate and Hamish along with Joe and Vanessa.

I do have to say, I was amazed at Amy's first skate. (although they have been practising for the same length of time as all the others)

Latest news (unconfirmed) is that Rufus has withdrawn. He's not clear of Covid and has lost so much training time, I think a decision has been made to replace him.

Also, personal opinion...I know they have to shorten the show but I don't think anyone should be evicted after the first week. They have been training solidly for 3 months and I think It's a bit off that they are kicked off the show after one skate.

Thanks for the latest news @Cleoriff

I`m sorry to see Rufus withdrawing from the show.

As to evictions, I agree with you that it is unfair for anyone to be kicked off after just one skate. In my opinion, it is surely hard to judge anyone who is inexperienced and has only skated once. In the past, some have shown a marked improvement in subsequent skates. It would be fairier for the weaker ones to face harsh criticism from the judges, inc pointing out their weakenesses and where they need to improve as this would be a wake-up call and we would see marked improvements the following week.

And that could make it more competitive and interesting for us the viewers.

I agree with both @Cleoriff  @Mi-Amigo your points and reasons as to why No Eliminations during the 1st week of the show.

@Cleoriff do they have both a male and female celeb ready for stepping in for someone ... Amy did very well last night and I am wondering if they have a male celeb ready to step in for Rufus ?

From the Daily Mirror, it appears ITV were planning to replace him with Matt Richardson. Rufus has Covid but upset a lot of people with racist tweets...so who knows?
