ITV have started revealing the names of the candidates for Dancing On Ice 2025.

This is a show watched and commented on by myself, @sheepdog and @Mi-Amigo and others.

First candidate is

FERNE McCANN

DOI 25 Fern.jpg

DOI 25 Fern.jpg

Ferne is classed as a TV personality who appeared in TOWIE

Then we have

Mollie PEARCE

DOI 25 Mollie.jpg

Mollie appeared in The Traitors. (I didn't watch the show so know nothing else about her)

The 3rd candidate to be revealed was:

Sir Steve Redgrave.

DOI 25 STEVE.jpg

Steve is well known as an Olympic rower who won gold medals at five consecutive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000. He has also won three Commonwealth Games gold medals and nine World Rowing Championships golds. He is the most successful male rower in Olympic history, and the only man to have won gold medals at five Olympic Games in an endurance sport.

The 4th Contestant is :

Sam Aston.

DOI 25 Sam.jpg

Sam plays Chesney Brown in Coronation Street. He's been in the show for a long time.

Apparently all the contestants start training next week for 2 hours a day.  Steve said they are banned from the ice until they start training.

There are a total of 12 contestants.

I was thinking of the difference between Adele Roberts who was on last years DOI and Mollie Pearce who is on this years show. Both had a stoma.

Adele (a lot older than Mollie) spoke about hers constantly. Even called it Audrey. 😂

We didn't hear about Mollie's until last night.

Really great whichever way you choose to handle people knowing. I suppose the difference might be the cause?

Everyone knew about Adele as she's a radio DJ and we knew she developed bowel cancer,

Mollie is an unknown. She appeared on the Traitors and now DOI. Developed Uncerative Colitis when she was 11 and was constantly in and out of hospital until she had the option of a colostomy.

Both very brave women who are getting on with their lives and showing the world that you can live a normal life with a stoma. Well done for setting an example. 😍

@sheepdog @Mi-Amigo

Still no sign of the music for Sundays show. Have checked FB, Wiki, Instagram and X.

So in anger, I've emailed ITV! 😂

Asked them why they feel the need to keep musical choices a secret from their viewers, when the Celebs know what they are skating to on Sunday?

Reminded them SCD always released music and dances on Weds before the Sat. show.

I'm sure it won't make the slightest bit of difference.... but it made me feel better!! 😂

Thanks Den for checking on what music for DOI and e-mailing ITV.

I can`t see what ITV hope to achieve by keeping it a secret.

@Cleoriff are these songs meant to mean something? Not exactly inspiring and I can hear the household going "Who is that awful singer?" which would be the er, politest family friendly question I can repeat.

Only two of are worthy (living la Tesco local & Common People) with Chasing cars being sort of interesting once it gets going. I'm looking forward to seeing Anton with that upbeat tune. The other songs, I'm not going to youtube it first for a change and leave it till I hear it to add some excitement to the show.

I'll have to check out the DOI Instagram page and try not to comment 😎

Fashion report: nothing offensive this week. Even Moti's hair. Though AB is wearing the equivalent of pearls and twin-set. Pearls are an apparent new male trend apparently.  The Mulherne wasn't so annoying this week too.

Key word of the night: detail.

Anton and Annette : Still improving and we love it, needs to focus on getting the transitions smoother. Otherwise, game on.

Chris and Robyn: Less frenetic and more composed this week which is down to the simplicity yet executed perfectly (almost!). And it showed his ability more. Good week for him until the general public voted.

Molly and Colin: Not to be outdone by the previous two, Molly upped her performance with, thankfully, more solo skating. However, it needs to be more as the solo challenges are coming.

Michaela and Mark: No sign of nerves and less solo, more partnership which left me asking the question: where was the skating? But we can except her given she's barely been dragged along by her male pro.

Charlie and Brendyn: Came out with confidence and looked like she was going to do more solo stuff. Alas, not quite there but the potential, the potential!!!! Overmarked though.

Sam and Molly: After last week plus the injury, was going to be difficult. But no, this was a step above everything he's done previously. A touch boring but let's just look at the skating quality and the massive improvement. No need for the Mini-Chesney deployment either.

Dan and Vanessa: So the show stopper we've been waiting for and we got it with the headbanger. Now for the critical part: transitions - just more work on that please as its just a little jilted at times.

Also, Lionheart or rather Encore une Vois by Sash or Insomnia by Faithless, take your pick of pizzacato 90's dance 'cos I can hear the influence. Right,  I'm off to to find some 90's trance throwing my hands in the air as I don't really care 😍

Ah and the show was made even better by the appearance of the two youngsters, Lilah Fear & Lewis Gibson. Now ITV, why don't you just give us this type of performance when doing the segment for the prize draw. Followed by the pro-skate time filler which was rather nice.

Then the show took a turn for the worse with the speed run of the skate-off contenders. Leaving us with the wrong pairs of Anton and Chris. Neither deserved to be there - should have been both Charlie and Molly. Given the choice, judges did make the right call in saving Anton but I dread to know who would have been going if there was a direct vote-off.

80's week next week so expect Dan as George Michael and oh, Michaela Strachan will you be doing Michaela Strachan from Hitman and Her skating to your own tune? Please. Pretty please?

@sheepdog

Must have missed the very rushed part about it being 80's week next week.!

I agree that Molly at least should have been in the skate off. I think Chris was there due his constant cocky comments. People forgot about the skating.

Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson's skate Le Freak by Chic was superb

The professionals skate was Stargazing by Miles Smith.

I'm still fuming by Oti's mark to Sam and Molly . She gave them a 7.5 whilst Chris Dean (quite rightly) marked him at 9.0. Oti, talking about a slow love song, wanted more of a lively performance. Look Oti,  Sam might not be tall, covered in tattoos and good looking but you are there to judge his skating performance. As far as I'm concerned, his was the 2nd best skate of the night.
