ITV have started revealing the names of the candidates for Dancing On Ice 2025.

This is a show watched and commented on by myself, @sheepdog and @Mi-Amigo and others.

First candidate is

FERNE McCANN

DOI 25 Fern.jpg

DOI 25 Fern.jpg

Ferne is classed as a TV personality who appeared in TOWIE

Then we have

Mollie PEARCE

DOI 25 Mollie.jpg

Mollie appeared in The Traitors. (I didn't watch the show so know nothing else about her)

The 3rd candidate to be revealed was:

Sir Steve Redgrave.

DOI 25 STEVE.jpg

Steve is well known as an Olympic rower who won gold medals at five consecutive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000. He has also won three Commonwealth Games gold medals and nine World Rowing Championships golds. He is the most successful male rower in Olympic history, and the only man to have won gold medals at five Olympic Games in an endurance sport.

The 4th Contestant is :

Sam Aston.

DOI 25 Sam.jpg

Sam plays Chesney Brown in Coronation Street. He's been in the show for a long time.

Apparently all the contestants start training next week for 2 hours a day.  Steve said they are banned from the ice until they start training.

There are a total of 12 contestants.

Stephen looked stupid and gets on my nerves! Holly looked lovely.

Dan and Vanessa

Good skate and danced on his own a lot. Nice back crossovers Scored 31

Ferne and Brendyn

Really did well. Had a little stumble but recovered. Skated alone Scored  28

Michelle and Mark.

A lovely skate. Told the story well although hada couple of wobbles Scored 32.5

Chris and Vanessa.

I thought this  was one of the best performances. Undermarked Scored 30

Sam and Molly.

My favourite skate. Skated alone. In time and very funny. Scored 32.5

Steve and Vicky.

Absolutely awful. If not hanging on to Vicky he was hanging on to the table. Scored 20

Anton and Annette.

Lovely performance, great skate. Stunt at  the end. Needs to stop hunching over. Scored 30

Charlie and Eric.

A bit wobbly when skating alone. Great choreography. Scored 27

Mollie and Colin.

I enjoyed this but felt it was a bit safe. Needs to improve transistions. Scored 30

Professionals did a great performancce of Wicked

No skate off.

Yet again Steve was saved and sadly Ferne was voted off.

Next week skating to songs which mean something to Celebs.

My opinion/comments

Dan and Vanessa

Good performance and skated on his own.

Ferne and Brendyn

Good performance, skated alone but had a little stumble. Underscored with 28.

Michelle and Mark.

Best performance of the night, again. Well deserved high score and top of leader board.

Chris and Vanessa.

Very good performnce. Underscored.

Sam and Molly.

Excellent performance. My second favourite of the night. Well deserved score.

Steve and Vicky.

Steve "Bev"grave.... dreadful. Can`t skate without holding on. Shoul have been voted off last week.

Anton and Annette.

Another good performance but, in my opinion, not as good as first performance.

Charlie and Eric.

Not bad, liked choreography.

Mollie and Colin.

Liked this performance, although a bit safe showed improvement from first performance.

Vote off: Ferne and Brendyn.

How on earth can Ferne - with judges` score of 28 - be voted off when Steve and Vicky only got 20 ?

Find it hard to beleive that public vote pulled Steve back from 8 votes behind.... "FIX" springs to mind.

@Mi-Amigo

You made this comment:

"Find it hard to believe that public vote pulled Steve back from 8 votes behind.... "FIX" springs to mind."

You're not the only one to say this. Other forums, including 3 on FB are saying exactly the same. A few people claim ITV must have paid Sir Steve 'a hell of a lot to get him on this show and they are wanting their moneys worth'.

Others are thinking this is the reason there's been no bottom two skate-off, (and not expected

to be one until Week 5!!)

You certainly wouldn't expect the judges to save Steve in any skate off after constantly  marking him  bottom of the leaderboard.

I dunno about this series.

Something makes me feel it's had it's day. Sad to feel like this as I've always enjoyed it, often more than SCD. Whilst I enjoy the skating, there's not enough of it. Last night we lost Josh to injury yet it still ran for the full  90 minutes.

Always been too many adverts, yet only give you 6 minutes to vote??!! Voting has been made more difficult for some. No picking up the phone nowadays, you either scan a code and/or log onto a website to vote.

There are many people who would find that too difficult or too time consuming.

Then we come to the presenters.
Holly has always been a natural but Steven Mulhern is the wrong person for this job. He thinks he's funny and isn't. Anyway, not sure this show requires a comedy host. I much preferred the Holly and Phil pairing.

It's turning into a 💩show!!

Missed the opening titles due to the football overrunning. Anyway, on turning over I was met by the expression "WTF is this?" Then I remembered, its movie week. Would have been so much more better if Phil The Mulherne was in the Barbie outfit and Holly was in green paint. Oh my mind wanders 😁 Nice stab in the eye by Holly's wand midway in the show. Unintentional or not 🤣

Oh so the judges dressed up for the theme did they? AB put a black tie and suit aka Men in Black but all he did was be AB with a black tie and a bad suit. Like most weeks. Moti, well another WTF moment with the wig but do I give her credit for being Storm from X-Men? As for T&D they dressed up as er, T&D. Which is kind of an interesting take on the theme.

Dan and Vanessa This I missed so going on the end vote-for-your-fave, all I can say he probably needs to work on his posture so he's not Lurch-like.

Ferne and Brendyn Thought it was a Teletubbies tribute act and a not very good one. Then I remembered it might have been Trolls but the horror of a 90 minute "eh-oh" experience may have played a part in thinking it wasn't that good. Needed more solo time in my opinion.

Michaela and Mark Not so strong as the first week with more nerves but overall, not regressing though being unsteady may be her weak point in the next few weeks.

Chris and Vanessa Have to say this was a marked improvement over his first week and confident to try out some solo stuff. Still arrogant off-ice so work on that please.

Sam and Molly Hmm, great characterisation and skills but the costume looked heavy on him. Needs more air to pull off some tricks though but definite fan-favourite especially with mini-Chesney being employed.

Steve and Vicky Bez is that you? Best bit was the bit they removed with the desk that was shown before the voting announcements. Truly one of the worst performances of DOI.

Anton and Annette Consistency is key and yeah, posture is critical. Also needs to work on his performance details like Sam has being an actor.

Charlie and Eric I'm now disappointed in Charlie. Relied too much on Eric to pull her through.

Mollie and Colin  Safe and boring. But given there's at least 3 people worse, card played well this week.

So in another reason to kill the show, we had Bez Mk minus-2 saved by the 10 people who can be bothered to scan the QR code in time before the advert reel kicks in. Kind of feel sorry for Ferne as she didn't deserve to be kicked out this week. I'm going to guess, the Skate-off will return next week as the judges are effectively redundant if this continues.

SONGS FOR WEEK 4

(These songs are meant to mean something to the celebrities)

Incidentally and just for a change, these songs were found on FB Dancing On Ice page!)

Still not on Instagram  or Wiki.....but on FB (First time they've been shown on there!)
I think ITV are having great fun hiding the songs for each week!

Anton Ferdinand and Annette : 'She's Royal' by Tarrus Riley

Chris Taylor and Vanessa : Pokemon Theme from Pokemon

Charlie Brooks and Eric : Someone Like You by Adele.

Dan Edgar and Vanessa James : Blue Moon by Frank Sinatra

Michaela Strachan and Mark : 'Wake Wake (This Time For Africa) by Shakira

Mollie Pearce and Colin. This Is Me : Keala Settle, Kesha, Missy Eliot

Sam Aston and Molly. Baba O'Reilly by The Who.

Sir Steve Redgrave and Vicky. It's My Life: Bon Jovi.

All we have to do now is guess which skater (Except Steve) who will be evicted tonight!!

Probably Charlie!!??

Week 4.

Steve and Vicky :

No improvement at all despite the judges mentioning his 5 gold medals about 50 times

Should have skated  faster to that song  Scored 21.5

Dan and Vanessa.

Skated this for his Nan . It was a lovely routine. Great footwork and performance Scored 35

Mollie and Colin.

What a touching story about her suffering ulcerative colitis. Never mentioned until this week. A very brave skate but needs to skate more on her own. She did make a mistake by offering the wrong leg for lift to be picked up Scored 31.0

Sam and Molly.

Best music of the night. Opened with a  great power slide. Such a pity  about the stumble but then we heard he dislocated his shoulder earlier so great for him not dropping out. Scored 29. Undermarked I thought as his skating was good!

Charlie and Eric.

A much better skate  and landed all her lifts on one foot. Very emotional. Scored 31.0

Anton and Annette.

Skated this in memory of his Mum. A lovely emotional skate. Lifts went well as did his flips.

Skated on his own well. Scored 34.

Chris and Robyn. (Annette his partner is injured and out of the show)

Stumbled on his opening lift. His timing was a bit off. This could be due to new partner who he's only skated with for one day. Scored 28.5

Michaela and Mark

Great energetic skate. I felt timing was off occasionally but this wasn't mentioned

Scored 34.

Lovely skate by professionals.

Went to vote and reminded NO skate off.

Eventually Steve was  voted off!!

Surprise surprise....I did say earlier that once Steve was out /or on 5th week

The skate off would be back. Guess what? It is back next week!!

Bit of an ok week for the judges sense of fashion. JT great colour, Moti looked like Moti we used to know without the big wigs. The Mulherne less obnoxious tonight and I liked Holly's dress. Maybe more feather or tassels wouldn't have gone amiss 😋

Steve and Vicky : You'd have to watch this like we used to on VHS and press fast forward for hilarity. Which is about as best you're ever going to see from him in terms of ability. Also, the shorts were out again.

Dan and Vanessa: Effortless and class. Top performance again. About the best Nan card ever played and the flowers, well that's a first!

Mollie and Colin: Now we know why there is some reluctance in certain lifts with the stoma bag. So aside from that, better this week but still too much of a reliance on Colin. Rather Colin should push her to skate on her own.

Sam and Molly: Wasn't as good as the previous weeks and not exactly looking to be a good routine before the fall. Which took everything out of the skating and performance. However we didn't notice the shoulder problem but a risk that paid off. Only just though. Might be a tough week ahead in recovery so may end up having to withdraw.

Charlie and Eric: Another frustrating routine where the lack of solo ability is showing. Can't fault her on the lifts in and out but she is the weakest one now.

Anton and Annette: What an improvement - see smiling helps! Really enjoyed this over Dan's purely because it felt more "free". Not much more to say as he's improving every week and I think might be the publics favourite on tonights skate.

Chris and Robyn: Came in and skated with intent and oh, got the balance wrong on lift. Definitely took the wind out of him otherwise everything else was good. Moved up in my eyes this week to someone who could be a finalist. Subject to not making a mess in forthcoming weeks and not leaving a pokemon for his partner to trip over backstage.

Michaela and Mark: Hair of the week! Sync issues but I'm not sure she has got control of her nerves in skating solo yet.

Nice routine for the filler section between voting. Nice enough of DOI to admit it was pre-recorded last week rather than weeks ago. Nudge nudge Strictly.

Finally Steve was "voted out by the public". Back to the skate-off's then so next week we'll get to see if the judges prefer technical abilities or go for the big cheesy grins and lifts.

Wait, isn't it about this time in the series we get a Mediocre Musical Act appearing?

@sheepdog

I think they had to tell us the professional skate was pre-recorded as Vanessa Bauer was in the routine. 😂

I only noticed her at the end as they were getting on and off the wall of the rink.

BTW,  I'm too late to edit my post but I've just seen that I referred to Chris's partner as ANNETTE (instead of Vanessa) who had to drop out because of injury.

My opinion/comments

Steve and Vicky :

Still poor - despite emphasis of him skating on his own [which everyone else has been doing for weeks].

Dan and Vanessa.

Great performance. One of my favourites of the night. Well deserved score.

Mollie and Colin.

Another good performance. First mention of stoma, which might account for difficult with some lifts, but agree should skate more on own.

Sam and Molly.

Great music [my fav song by The Who]. Good performance skating with dislocated shoulder. Stumble seemed to affect his confidence.

Charlie and Eric.

I liked this performnce which was emotional and much better. Deserved score.

Anton and Annette.

Great performance. My second fav of the night. Well deserved score.

Chris and Robyn.

Mr Arogant tried to show off but stumbled on lift, and as said his timing was off.

Michaela and Mark

Although one of my fav skaters, I thought it was a good energetic skate but wasn`t as good as previous weeks, but still deserved judges` score.

Vote: despite no skate-off [ITV`s attempt to keep him in contest], public have seen sense and Steve is out.

With skate-off back next week, should be an interesting show.
