Hey guys,

The film thread is back this week, and below is some much-talked about news from the week. Please add your own!

What movie stories have you heard this week? Did any decisions annoy or excite you? My exciting story of the week is that Hugh Jackman has expressed interest in returning for Xmen: Days of Future past!

More News:

- The Syfy channel is reportedly planning a n remake of Waterworld!

- Charlize Theron will play the lead in the US remake of 'Lady Vengeance'.

- Upcoming actor Daniel Bruhl is replacing James McAvoy in the long-awaited Wikileaks film.

- Director Mark Romanek has cast Cate Blanchett as an evil stepmother in his version of Cinderella

- Larry Hagman, of legendary Dallas fame, has died at the age of 81. Many will remember him as the great JR.

Waterworld? Seriously? Thought they might re-do Westworld which has more potential.

BTW combining remakes and Larry Hagman (in Liquid derailment mode), check out Failsafe starring said actor which was remade years later staring Rebecca Demornay called By Dawn's Early light. I saw the latter first then the original a few years later and enjoyed the B&W version better.

Totally agree about Westworld sheepdog slight_smile

Waterworld was one of the most expensive films ever made, partially due to the fact that it was filmed on an artificially created island (just for the film) that had no toilets on board. This caused boats to have to constantly ship crew members back to shore, causing the fuel bills to sky-rocket/

In film news this morning: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has decided to leave the director's chair of the 'Highlander' remake over creative differences with the film's studio; Summit.

Too many remakes methinks 😞

A bad idea in my opinion! How do you form all of the characters, form the team and a cohesive plot into a 2-2.5 hour film?

In related news today: Check out this awesome new Man of Steel poster.

Brilliant pic, saw that in the leaked comic con trailer but was a bit blurred but glad it's now in hi res. @ Toby, they managed to do it with the avengers but I think dc said they are doing it differently by releasing man of steel first, there are a few rumoured appearances of justice league characters in the film, eg: batman played by Joseph Gordon levitt & possibly Wonder Woman.

dc has said that they want the superman film first, then the justice league film to set up the other characters then spin them off into their own franchises, starting with a green lantern 2

Don't get me wrong, I really hope it works, but I'm pessimistic on this one :S

In the news today: 'Skyfall' has overtaken 'Avatar' as the highest grossing film in British history!

Has anyone seen the news of the Steve jobs biopic?

Aston kutchers is playing mr jobs. I can't help but feel this is a insult to his memory.
