After 7 years looking into all aspects of this war...Sir John Chilcot has started his speech

One of the first statements he made........

"The UK did not exhaust all peaceful options before joining the invasion of Iraq"

Of course not. It's 11 volumes and over 2 million words and it won't say anything that everyone didn't already know.

There'll be no comeback on Blair though..

Watching a running news thread there has been speculation about trying him for War Crimes....(I know that won't happen) Apparently they had access to an email (which they had to fight to get) which shows Blair telling Bush..'I will stand by you whatever happens'. This was 7 months before the start of the war....

Of course it will never happen. This is just a diversion from all the Brexit news stories, which many people are already beginning to tire of.

Just more hot air and what are we supposed to make of it? Are we supposed to be grateful that there has been an enquiry? I'm sure the families of the poor lads who lost their lives in this completely unjust alliance between Bush and Blair will take great solace. We deserved better from our respective governments.

I couldn't agree more @jonsie. Tony Blair was George W Bush's poodle. There was no justification for that war. Bush's father failed to take out Saddam in 1992 and he was trying to finish the job, which he totally screwed up. The world is in the state it is now because of those mistakes. That's my two cents.

Latest....
Tony Blair says he accepts "fully responsibility" for the decision to enter Iraq in his post-Chilcot report statement.

I'm glad to see him own up to it, but it doesn't exonerate him. It appears as if much of the responsibility for this falls on MI6.
