No problem @Cleoriff I love hearing about them. I didn't know they only caught 50% of their prey. slight_frown

Cheetahs are solitary animals (except occasionally brothers will hunt in packs) and they only catch 50% of their prey. Yes, they are the fastest land mammals but can't sustain the chase. Also they need 20 minutes at least to recover so wont start eating till after that time. Then (and this is the biggest problem)..if they have been watched by other predators like hyenas...they will abandon their prey and not eat. slight_frown

Oh god...apologies for going OTT with this info but it's a subject close to my heart..LOL

Great insight into nature @Cleoriff

@Marjo I would imagine he was trying to get at something to eat and ended up getting it all stuck on his antlers Smiley Very Happy

Your comment about the catching only 50% of their pray got me thinking - I read once (or maybe saw in a documentary) that there's this formula of how many times is ideal for your cat to catch the toy when you play with them, versus how many times you are faster and they don't catch it, with the purpose that they get the most out of the play. And it kind of related to this, to the "formula" of how many of their prey the cats in the wild catch. If that made any sense... Anyone know this one?

I have a problem with my cat Marty (10) ... he doesn't drink from his water bowl ... he used to drink from the outside bird bath ... I've tried bottled water & a pet water spa = no good ... at his last yearly check-up the vet advised he needed to loose 2lb in weight & to feed dry food only, now I'd say water is a main ingredient in pouch cat food ... there is always a bowl of biscuits down & I feed my cat 2 x pouches of wet food per day, he does get treats like sharing a freshly cooked Morrisons chicken with me ... he is a big cat in the sense of long & big boned, but no way is he a fat cat = I kid you not

I'd be grateful for any advice / opinion anyone can offer ... thank you

It doesn't matter where cats drink from Jane as long as they stay hydrated. My eldest cat (sadly no longer with us) never drank from her bowl. She drank from puddles of rain. When there was no rain I just poured water on the slabs outside. Occasionally I gave her very very diluted milk (mainly water with a splash of milk) and she would drink that from a bowl. Also wet food has water in it so I never had that problem. If he drinks water from the bird bath then pour some in there....
