Luckily this did not happen to me, but a friend's cat is the family provider. Likes to bring home presents/food in the form of mice and birds. Sometimes not all of said animal makes it home.

The one that sticks in my mind is the one when my friend woke up, rolled onto his side and was eye to eye with a mouse.

Just the head, nothing else...

Yep. Think godfather but a mouse. on the pillow, right next to you.

he has also had ones left at the side of the bed, at the bottom of the stairs, in the front room, kitchen all in various states of life.
if they are brought back as toys, then sometimes that is even more of a problem. one mouse "escaped" and hid under the sofa!

@Cleoriff @gmarkj Luckily I only get one at a time and there not normally around long enough to breed. Slowly getting it through the cats head that this is unacceptable behaviour but they can be stubborn little creatures.

Thing is cats are bringing you presents when they do this. They don't see anything bad in it at all.

I have cleared out many dead mice and birds. One of my cats thinks I like butterflies and moths. Confused

Have you ever heard a frog when a cat catches it? They scream like a baby. I think it must be a defence mechanism as usually the cat drops it....

problem is they think that cats view this as providing a fair return for board and lodgings, so it does happen now and again.
i remember one week we had a different bird each day - some of them seemed to have not been caught that recently either...

i haven't heard a frog being caught, but we have had a few in the conservatory after they were! was quite amusing as at the time we had a house rabbit so the frog was hopping about with the rabbit following and the cats following the rabbit.
NB - the rabbit was quite safe - she put the cats in their place despite being half their size. in fact one of the cats was rather in love...

Yes frogs make quite a disturbing noise when caught by a cat! I was super freaked out the first time I heard it slight_frown

Normally they are little presents but for my current cat there more toys to play with and he will growl if I try to take them away!

Hey everyone,

Here's a lovely story of a very pregnant cat getting some help to give birth at an animal shelter in the US. slight_smile
