I've only once ever had more than 1 cat at any one time
Siamese ... the little lilac point Cleo ... & ... Tigger a seal point
Since being on my own I prefer a male cat ... why? ... it's said a male cat will go to a female human being ... & ... a female cat will go to a male human being
I luv my cat Marty heaps ... & ... it's very very therapeutic for me to have him around my home ... & ... I'd like to think I look after him the best I'm able to
What do you think of 'helper' animals in hospitals? ... @Cleoriff , as you were a career nurse rising to Nurse Management?
I know what I think ... = ... yes, but then I think of the cleanliness required to high standards in hospitals ... & ... the number of staff needed to do this

Jane I firmly believe in 'helper' dogs and cats in hospital in selected areas appropriately designed for animals
I actually started it in our care of the elderly unit. Initially as a Pat Dog service.... then it developed to patients having their own animals brought in. They were allowed to visit once a week and only if the patient was infection free...

I've heard of helper dogs, but are there also helper cats?

That's a great idea. Just from my own point of view a nice golden labrador, golden retriever or my personal favourites English Springer Spaniels or short haired Alsations would be absolutely wonderful to engage with. The only regular visitors I get are my son and a friend who both come at weekends so a companion dog would be brilliant.
Or maybe a husky to pull my wheelchair ♿
