Note S20 Ultra died - O2 offering to replace not fix. How do I recover my son's baby photos?

My phone is less than 3 months old and suddenly switched off during a call today. I tried to reboot and at first the Samsung logo appeared but then the light on the back started flashing like a strobe and then screen went and stayed black. The battery had at least 75% charge, I've plugged it into laptop but isn't recognised.

Samsung offering to replace with new unit but I have invaluable photos that weren't backed up. Is there any way we can save the data?

Thanks for any help.

Giles

Check your Google Photos account online, you may find that they have automatically been backed up when you were on wifi @Gilo

Thanks I did and they have saved right up until I upgraded to this phone 3 months ago...

So that's a small mercy, but still 3 months of photos when you have a newborn baby in lockdown is a lot to lose.

Have you tried a soft reset @Gilo ?

Press and hold the power and volume down keys together for about 30 seconds to see if the phone then reboots

@Gilo

You could try Samsung as they may have more tools at their disposal to repair it without losing your data.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thanks for all the help guys. I've asked O2 to try and repair without wiping so fingers crossed.

Snap. I have one at 5.30 with them

They can possibly load the photos onto an sd card for you
