I received a pac code from o2 as I am transferring to Orange. PAC code is correct format for example TEL123456.
When Orange use this code to try and port my number they are saying it is invalid and not associated to the number I am trying to port and there is nothing they can do.
So back to o2 I go and they say that it is valid and associated to the number I am trying to port and there i nothing I can do. they are saying they cant generate a new one until this one runs out, which also means that I have t continue to pay o2 until I can use a pac code. what happens if in 23 days time when the current pac code runs out I have the same issue again.
This is ridiculous and once again the customer is piggy in the middle.
Appalling customer service!!!

The PAC code will be valid. All PAC codes are generated by a central database called MNP, which all the networks use to generate the codes. The 6 digit number generated goes with the Network's ID (TEL for us, ORG for Orange etc..). It can't and doesn't produce invalid codes.
There must be a technical issue at Orange's side. There's been a few bits of chat on here today and they all seem to have Orange down as saying the PACs are invalid, which is nonsense because they can't be!
PS...did this really need a seperate thread when you've already brought it up on another one?

and yes it did thankyou. It appears you think that o2 is always correct where most customers seem to have a very different opinion. And it appears that this is not just an issue with porting from o2 to orange, it is porting from o2 tyo anywhere as far as I can tell

From my own understanding, The only way the PAC code fails if the system that orange is using didnt connect to confirm that the pac code was correct?
Ive never heard of a wrong pac code, but then again theres always a possibility in any computer generate code. But i bet if you passed your pac code to another network it would be accepted.

mmm thats a New one on me too Liquid. 1 Pac code a month per mobile number i understood?
The system that Generates it is the issue and not o2 or any of the networks.
The system has to communicate with all the networks and if when the PAC code was generated and there is a glitch in communication, then this is where the problem arrises.
Ive tested the Theroy out on a number i transfered a couple of years ago to a network who said the nPac umber was invalid, I did however ask another network who kindly checked for me and said that the Pac code was valid.
All the Networks use the same system which is Automated and from what i understand has no Human intervention, unless this is now changed?
