When will O2 approve of the new N96 firmware upgrade?

When will O2 approve of the new N96 firmware upgrade to V12.something? It's been 3 months since it was released and the time this is taking is ridiculous. This is my first phone with O2, so far I'm pleased but the one thing that is really ticking me off is waiting for approval of upgrade. Could an O2 staff member or someone with knowledge of this issue tell me an exact or atleast approximate date of when the upgrade is due to be approved of?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: To clear things up, it is with the ALL-BLACK N96 that this is has not been approved of.
EDIT 2: It's been 6 months now since V. 12 (still not approved) and on top of that, V20 is now out.

Hi people,

Have gone through the tutorial and if I reboot the phone and read the product code it has changed tried a number of codes, but the OTA advises no upgrades available. The Nokia in question is an N96 but silver rim, phone version is as follows

sw ver 11.018
version date 13-09-08

custom ver 11.018.305.1
cust ver date 11-11-08
language set 001

model nokia n96
type rm-247

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful

I also found I had to use the software that comes with the phone or the NSS software does not work, new version of nokia software breaks it.

Ok, solved

updated to firmware version 30.033 dated 18/06/09

1. install Nokia PC software Suite that comes with the phone *NOT* the latest from the web
2. install NSS(Nemesis Service Suite) software and follow instructions in link for using NSS above to change product code to 0568238
3. Disconnect phone from PC
4. Install Nokia Software Updater (NSU) I had the charger connected to ensure that the battery did not go flat during upgrade
5. Connect phone when requested and wait a while, if the NSU software advises no device found, wait for the PC to finish updating all drivers(seems the NSU changes drivers) and then retry.
6. NSU will down load 135mb file (much larger than the 3mb OTA)
7. wait for it all to finish and you are done

Note:- You are advised to backup data first, my phone had very little on it that I could not replace easily therefore I did not bother, I did not lose any data, however be warned you could lose data and brick your phone if it all goes wrong, your choice.

Cheers

OK well, O2 actually accepted V12, but ofcourse not V20, nevermind V30. So I decided that was the last straw. Thanks for your link and info', Sherby, and thanks to the other participants on the thread and aznflava for bumping.
