When will O2 approve of the new N96 firmware upgrade?

When will O2 approve of the new N96 firmware upgrade to V12.something? It's been 3 months since it was released and the time this is taking is ridiculous. This is my first phone with O2, so far I'm pleased but the one thing that is really ticking me off is waiting for approval of upgrade. Could an O2 staff member or someone with knowledge of this issue tell me an exact or atleast approximate date of when the upgrade is due to be approved of?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: To clear things up, it is with the ALL-BLACK N96 that this is has not been approved of.
EDIT 2: It's been 6 months now since V. 12 (still not approved) and on top of that, V20 is now out.

the way i see it, i think o2 do a lot of testing on new software before they approve it, even though it is approved by nokia, it has to be approved by o2 so that it works properly on the o2 network when you using your mobile.

I know, but it's been 4 whole months already. The fact is they're taking double the maximum approximated time.

O2 being primarily a service provider rather than a designer/manufacturer for the mobile phones allocates much fewer resources to testing firmware than Nokia could. Nokia needs to make sure the firmware works with all variations of a phone model, and would put more engineers on the task. I think that O2's view is that as long as the current firmware isn't causing their customers problems, why spend lots of resources on little improvements to existing phones which doesn't necessarily lead to more revenue for them?

This will void your warranty but how about trying this to update..

You'll need to change your phones product code to allow it to 'see' the update. The instructions to do this are on:

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/sh ... oduct+code

Follow the tutorial and you should change the code to: 0543713

Reboot your phone and then try do the 'over-the-air' upgrade.

Let me know if anyone tries this.

Ohrite I tried the above and Guess what It really does work, Delete the product code and replace it with the EURO 1 N96 BLACK, ReBoot the phone stick the USB and update like normal with the NSU

My N96 All Black reads:

Software Version - 20.050
Software Version Date - 20-03-09
Custome Version - 20.050.098.1

YOU SHOULD ALL DO THIS AS o2 ARE real pi** takers!!!!
