Unlimited data - moving goalposts

I have just heard the news about this. I've checked my data usage and, guess what I'm regularly just a tad over the limit!!
I bet a lot of you are too.
This is an outrageous and totally commercial move by O2 - I know for a fact that they will have looked at this as a way to squeeze more revenue out of us users.
Well guess what O2 - you are going to lose a bucket load of business over this.

I haven't ever gone over 500MB so I"m fine with the new cap. In fact I think I'll gain significantly from this. My usage is mostly within a densely populated city and at peak times the 3G slows down to a crawl. This change will hopefully mean the bandwidth hoggers will move to another network. At the moment these people are all on O2 as they are the only ones doing 'unlimited'.

If you don't think these people exist then have a look at this thread:

mate there are no bandwidth hoggers. how can u hog bandwidth on a 3g smart phone? the problem is o2 can see that with iphone 4 having multi tasking we can all leave skype running and have free unlimited skype 2 skype calls. thus they make no money.

If bandwidth hoggers existed then O2 should just throttle their speed same as an isp does for heavy internet users. You would expect an isp to say there are a few people who are using the service too much so to fix this we are going to limit every1.

If every1 just buys the iphone 4 out right and goes on the simplicity £15 tariff with unlimited data. which over 18 months the length of a normal contract then you dont lose any money. Plus we can all laugh at greedy O2 as the beg us all to move tariff.

That link does not work? And why would I not have working sim? I have a working Sim now? And they would have no need to cap me or change my charges since every1 else seems happy just to jump onto a new capped tariff.

I dont use 500 meg a month nowhere near. But that is not the point. Seems to me the O2 network cant cope so instead of improving the network they will just limit the use of the users. My current reception and download speed is crap but ill bet money that after every1 is on this new capped data plan it wont be any different. I hope that I am wrong but I doubt it.

what the hell are they going to do when they have to move to 4G!
