Unlimited data - moving goalposts

I have just heard the news about this. I've checked my data usage and, guess what I'm regularly just a tad over the limit!!
I bet a lot of you are too.
This is an outrageous and totally commercial move by O2 - I know for a fact that they will have looked at this as a way to squeeze more revenue out of us users.
Well guess what O2 - you are going to lose a bucket load of business over this.

Mr Monkey
You may not - but I (and others) have issue with their 97% figure. Outside sources make the figure significantly less.
For example I am a tad over the proposed limit each and every month as are many others.
When I make a deal with someone - I stick to it. It's called integrity.
When fellow consumers or constituents are affected by an issue that i consider unfair i believe it's my duty to support them, even if the issue does not directly affect me.
Luckily I will only have to suffer a couple of months of data capping before my contract expires - others aren't the same situation.
It's terrible that O2 will have been selling unlimited data options for several months in the full knowledge that they will be making this change - it should be illegal to do that.

Totally agree mdray00!!
I used to be on Orange with great reception and no problems. I only moved because I wanted an IPhone.
I may well move back - even if it costs me more.
If we consumers don't vote with our feet then these people (though I hesitate to use that word) will continue to think they can abuse the privilege of our custom.
Let's not let them get away with it!!

Oh I nearly forgot. Apparently I was a platinum customer and entitled to a 6 month early upgrade. That means I have been able to upgrade for a year!

They said that they have alot of customers and thats they they cant tell you that you are due an upgrade.

Dont worry O2 they wont be an issue for long.

Had another good 1 with them last summer. Went on holiday to Portugal was told by them that I can use my inclusive texts at a price of 4 text for every 1. That seemed fair since I was abroad. But I thuoght that dont matter I have the unlimted text bolt on. Got back to a bill for £200. Was told that since the bolt on includes only UK to UK text i had to pay for each text. So I said what about the 500 it get with the contract. 'Oh they dont count since you have a bolt on' apparently I was spozed to phone up remove the bolt on before I went away and put it back on my return.

So very good in adding unlimited texts to the tarrif meaning that when people go abroad they will have to pay for every text they send.

So now I have not only lost my unlimited data but also any free text allowance.

But this is ok. It will benefit customers!

If you had 500 texts included in your allowance then you could use those for texting overseas at the 4:1 ratio. It has always been the case that text bolt ons are only available for use in the UK.

I disagree with this, I added a bolt on last month to my Blackberry - don't know if this is where there is a difference, for when I was on holiday and was told it was 4 for 1, my bill reflected this and I've not been charged for any texts out of the UK.

No that was not the case as the bolt on supersedes the 500

I am on an O2 iPhone contract that has ended and is due for renewal, I have been with O2 since launch day of the iPhone 2G in 2007 on an iPhone contract and before that. I am disgusted to find that I will have to go from "Unlimited" to 500mb per month.

This is how we are treated as loyal customers!!!

iPhone 4 will be available on O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Three all on launch day so whichever of the non O2 Networks that offers the greater limit will definately be getting my custom and O2 can go shaft themselves as they do to loyal long term customers, unless they are prepared so show some loyalty to us the idiots that pay them month in month out, year after year.

Lets face it we don't stand much to loose, I can keep my number and other networks WILL offer comparable tariffs plus I might get some form of reception sometimes.

O2s 3G coverage within London is iffy to say the least let alone trying to make a simple voice call.

It is sheer coblers to suggest that O2 is doing this for the greater good for all

As others have suggested that by reducing tariff and including a bolt on, Still a bleeding loss.
