Nooooooo...we drink alcohol in the Virtual lounge. Not when we are 'working'
Stick that one in the grumble thread!
I must admit I worked fine on a Baccardi and coke @Cleoriff. When I worked at PA Consulting many years ago, we had a lady who did the lunches and drinks for client meetings. On a Friday afternoon she would make drinks for me and my friend Norma. None of the managers, who saw the drinks on our desks, complained as Norma and I continued to work and neither of us got rip-roaring drunk. It was just a pleasant way to end the week.

Mind you when I first started nursing as a cadet, they allowed us to drink then (a small one with xmas lunch). My friend and I were sent home though as we went OTT....
Well I can understand that @Cleoriff as you were dealing with patients and you needed complete concentration. The worst thing Norma or I could do, if we went overboard on booze, was be unable to type up a proposal or screw up a phone call. Bad in the eyes of our managers no doubt. But not life threatening.
Funnily enough my first stay in hospital back in the 70s, my boss came to visit me and she brought a bottle of champagne. I gave a glass to one of my nurses, a small one on her insistence. Just one, mind. Anne, my boss, had a glass and the rest was for me. I was pleasantly buzzed. Which helped with the pain no end
