Within a week of being with 02 and within a day or two speaking to 3 staff from 02 Customer Service I receive what I can only assume is a scam text. I've had the same mobile phone number for years and never had a single scam message.

Anyone else had a message like the one in the picture, the phone number in pic is not mine so I don't mind showing it.

All of these customer service rep's for 02 will have left notes in my account which maybe a good starting point for your internal Security Staff as this is no coincidence in my opinion.

Hello @StuartR1

Sorry to hear you have received a scam text. There are a huge amount of different ones going around, obviously never respond.

I had a text about the Govt. Energy scheme recently  it turned out 100s of these were sent, prompting the tv stations to announce it  as a scam.

I haven't had one of these yet so thanks for posting this on the forum as a warning.

I have wondered how they get my number but I have been told its probably mass number selection by computer,  I don't think it is a target number.

Unfortunately it is difficult to stay alert to these emergency sounding messages but we must.

Best wishes TallTrees

Thanks for the reply @TallTrees and for sharing your experience.

I'm up to speed with these types of scams with the industry I work in, I do agree with you that targets numbers are usually Computer Generated. I just found this one a little bit coincidental that I've just joined 02 and I've only spoken to three 02 staff over the weekend then I get the message portraying to be from 02.

These scams are common nowadays report the number by texting CALL to 7726 and give them the number so o2 can block them entirely and also follow this guide https://www.o2.co.uk/help/safety-and-security/unwanted-calls-and-messages#:~:text=However%20if%20we%...)
