What's the reason for this sequence of transactions needed to sign in to the Forum on laptop earlier, and just now to the web version of My O2 on mobile, @Dave-O2?

SMS lands, after a warning not to share the PIN that is about to arrive...

This morning I had to go through the OTP method to sign into the Community after 4 days with no problems.

So what is the point of this? Not as if the Community is a big security risk?

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

No sign-in since on either laptop or mobile for Community Forum, but needed every time for web version of MyO2 on either device.

The common single signin authentication system used for those two systems is probably the cause, but as to why it was switched on out of the blue last Monday, we may never discover...

I am getting the OTP on a daily basis and have been for the last week ; that is using this forum on a Windows 10 laptop via Microsoft Edge.

I wonder whether last Monday's switch-on was an error, or whether it was a quiet attempt to enable something that was meant to have been switched-on ages' ago but was overlooked ?

Anything to make it difficult for folks to complain. It's the VMO2 way

Forgive me please @Enlli if i am missing something obvious, but how is the OPT connected to making it difficult for folks to complain ?

And how many people come on here because, for a multitude of reasons, they don't have access to a phone?

And don't forget those who have problems of receiving OTP text. That comes up quite often.

The Community is often their first level of contact.

Fair enough @Enlli, you were referring to difficulties and complaints on the forum rather than formal complaints ! 👍

[EDIT : if the intention is to reduce the number of "complaints" on this forum, it might backfire ; in the absence of the chance to vent and get advice on here, more customers might be pushed towards the formal complaints' route]

There is absolutely no reason for a security check of this type on this site. There is no risk. It's absurd.

Apart from the fact @Bambino that, having logged into the community, you can scroll to the top of the page, right-click on the link for MyO2, and find yourself in your account without having to log-in again.

I wonder whether O2's risk assessment procedures are perceiving lots of log-ins from shared computers ? In fact, that could be one person logging-in on one computer but using multiple different e-mail addresses because of the well-publicised MyO2 issues.
