I have an old 2G only device (it's an alarm signaller) which works fine.
I recenty tried a newly supplied o2 contract SIM in it and it does not work.
Older o2 contract & PAYG SIMs seem to work fine in it still.
Is there something different about new o2 SIMs that would stop them working in an older device?
Thanks.

@oisgreatreally That happens to be the biggest load of rubbish I've heard yet.
All SIM cards are backward compatible and work 2G as it has some time to run
And the idea of a 3G is nearer to 2G so it may work is further bull. They are totally different systems.
I can see some head in the hands movements from the regulars here.

Haha yeah I did not think it made any sense.
Is it possible that newly issued SIM cards use different technology, e.g. different voltage / memory capacity etc. and this is not supported by an older device?

No, not at all.
