Hi fellow "grand prize" winners,
$$$$$$$$ PLEASE POST A REPLY IF YOU ALSO RECEIVED THIS MESSAGE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I am also one of 23(000,000,000) who received this text message.
"You have won 415,000.00 GBP, contact, ect. . ." something about the 2nd draw, from the first prize, and that sort of nonsense.
Just sent my contact info today. . . Should of checked this out first. . .
What's this business about them wanting money to release the prize ?
They have not hit me up for anything yet. This should be entertaining.
Also looked @ ####. . .
LOL . . . :womanindifferent:
"If it is too good to be true, it usually is. . ."
- Not sure who said that. . . ? Someone said it before me though !

The best thing to delete the message or e-mails. They are of no good. I received an e-mail supposedly from Barclays Bank but looking at the link itself, it leads me to a different website so I did not click on the link. Just be careful guys!

A bright and clear indication that you are dealing with a fraudster is the mention of a UK number starting with 070. These are so-called 'personal numbers' in the UK, and in my opinion represent one of Ofcom's most ludicrous failures in serving the public. These numbers can obviously be easily confused for mobile numbers (as they start with 07), but they are NOT UK mobile numbers. They are very expensive to call, and they can forward a call to any number in the UK or abroad, seamless to the caller, and most of the time untraceable (anyone can get such a number for a couple of pounds or even free).

So when you see an email, text or letter from anyone and the phone number they mention starts 070 that should immediately raise an alarm as a potential scam. Surely there are people out there who use 070 numbers for legitimate reasons, but they are outnumbered by scammers using these numbers to confuse people into calling them and thinking they are in the UK.

I am only mentioning this as in another thread it was indicated that in the £415,000 email they gave a 070 number as a contact.

Yup. I actually believed it. I got the return email from them telling me to go to Newcastle or get their legal dude to collect my winnings and send them to me.
The kicker was that they asked me to get something from the UK court in order to collect my prize. Being Canadian and not knowing even where to start with that, I checked it out with the UK court. Don't even need to do that to collect my winnings. So the SCAM buzzers were going off in my head at this time. Took it one step further and tried to ask O2 about it. Well, when O2 wouldn't take my postal code and they are supposed to be expanding into my market...that put it over the top. I knew that I had been had. At least I sent them no critical info and no cash either.

I just got off the horn to my cell company. Let them know that any charges which are attempted to be charged to my cell that are not directly from my cell are to be confirmed with me voice on my cell before being charged to me or I refuse to pay them.

These idiots are after cash of course. But if they can get it, they want your bank info so they can clean you out. The other info you gave them is enough for them to do that.

It's just a spam email, delete it.

By replying to them you have confirmed that your email address is genuine, so expect more of the same.

If it was a text message forward it to the O2 spam desk on 7726, but I don't know if that will work from Canada.
