Rogue caller

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have been charged for a "call" of almost 2 hours duration to a number that I have no record of.  It turns out to be an organisation called Moneyhelp Marketing.  The number is shown as 08439740489.  I phoned it to find out the name and ceased the call as soon as I had that information.  A few minutes later I had a call from 08439771923 - presumably the same organisation.  Has anyone else had a similar experience and, if so, what did you do about it?  At present I'm out of pocket by over £47!!!!

The OP in this thread mentions the same number and said that O2 reimbursed him for the calls.

@Anonymous Call customer service on 202 from your mobile if Pay Monthly or 4445 if you're Pay & Go. If they reimbursed one customer they should reimburse you.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Did you call the number first and maybe it didn't disconnect correctly? I am not sure how someone could make a call from your number without cloning your sim etc. And anyone going to that much trouble would be calling 09 number they control, running up a large bill and profiting from it. I would say it could just be a network error, but you will need to speak with customer services to dispute the call.

Whatever you do, don't call them back and block the number.

Make a complaint but speak to customer service.

The op has already called them back which is why they were charged I presume?

That was a costly mistake as o2 will just say that the OP phoned back & that they are liable for that call at least.

you can opt out of marketing in your myo2

Seems like this is a new scam we need to be careful of.
