Phone scam

Hi everyone, I just received a call from a number ending +9016. The lady knew my name and that my upgrade was due soon, and then asked my to confirm all my personal details - name, billing address etc, so she could access my account and give me information on my upgade options. Luckily I didn't give her any details as I have just checked with O2 and they confirmed this call did not come from them, so just beware of any calls you get like this. O2 said they always call from their customer service no: 0800 064 1087.

Unfortunately happens all too often. Seems everyone is trying to scam you one way or another these days.....
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

If you have a blocking call facility then add that number to stop future calls.

O2 do allow partners to call you etc but if there saying it's not one if them then you did well to not go ahead.

We've always said its best not to take up any mobile phone contract via a cold call.

Seems this number has popped up before in other forum threads.

@adam

Yes the links are to show the number O2 state is theirs and has been discussed on the forum in the past.

If the OP can include the full tel number of the dodgy call then more can be searched for.

Strange, I've never seen that number in the forum before.

The official O2 number of course, but you wouldn't want to block that would you?

I'm aware they were not called by the legit number @adam.

And that's why I asked if the OP could include the FULL number we could go on more.
