if you simply want to opt out without having to pay for the privilege, you can try emailing enquiries@lbm.co.uk , or if you want to complain in person you can ring 0161 616 0776 which is their complaints department.
Apparently they become persistent, above copied from the link above LBM is the Mktg Company
( not ibm as it may look like in the paste :smileyvery-happy: )

Re: Call from 0800 064 1087

After putting my landline number into the online O2 broadband checker to check if I could get O2 broadband, I started receiving calls from this number.
More and more companies are now doing this (Talk Talk are one) where they log your number after entering it into an online broadband checker and it gets passed to their sales/marketing departments.

Re: Call from 0800 064 1087

Well O2 have just lost themselves a long standing and loyal customer.
I did go onto the broadband checker page about a fortnight ago to look into switching to O2. I'd used the service before and found it decent and now I had the chance coming up to switch I thought I'd look into it.
About 3 days after the initial check I got a call lateish in the evening regarding my recent inquiry. I said (truthfully) that I was still under contract for several months and was shopping around.
Ive subsequently had several more calls regarding the exact same thing in the 2 weeks following despite each time truthfully saying I couldn't take any deal and to not call.
I just got the latest call and told him immediately in no uncertain terms to remove my detail and number from their systems but if O2 are employing such companies I don't want to be funding this by being a customer.

Re: Call from 0800 064 1087

I've had calls from them.
They promised six months free internet if I signed up for another 12 months. Needless to say I didn't get that as I was an existing customer.
When I rang O2 themselves they kindly gave me 3 months free and further month for messing up my bill.
Their mobile side of the business is just as bad. I never speak to anyone "calling from O2" anymore. I always either go into store or call them direct. I've always found their Scottish call centre to be fantastic. Any deals they offer they give a name to follow up if there are any issue with the billing which there was and I was able to speak to the same as before.

This offer is still available for existing customers, at the bottom of the page here:
http://www.o2.co.uk/broadband
Only if you've had an O2 mobile for 2 years though, the offer for people with less time on O2 ends 31st March.
