Wonder if anybody else has had this problem when sending multiple texts eg 1 text message to 4 different contacts my text allowance reduces by 16 basically every message counts as 4.........if i sent 1 message to 7 people would i lose 49 txts from my allowance - surely this cannot be correct. Using iphone 3gs contacted o2 customer services but not much help. Sending a single txt no problem..........
.........thanks

Are you sending attachments or picture messages?

Your sums don't add up, if each text is taking 4 from your allowance then sending 1 text to 7 people would be 28, not 49 ??

Having said that, you should only use up 7 from your allowance if you are sending standard text messages.

Have you checked the messages in 'My O2' as it should show you if they are multiple texts?

If there is a mistake on your account then you would have to call O2 as only they can resolve it. You should only get

Not commonly known but quite often if you send a 'round robin' text message your phone will send it as a MMS and you will be charged as such.

Must say I haven't come across it with an iPhone before though.

If you have an iphone and have the subject line on and put a subject in the message it is sent as an mms.

You can turn off the subject line in settings.

Hope that helps see here http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/how-to/# ... s.messages

Last month I received a bill from O2 which was double my tariff (I have never exceeded my free text or call limit since being with O2 nearly 3 years ago). I was amazed that I had apparently sent the number of texts showing on the bill but eventually just accepted it and paid. This month my bill is nearly as high despite the fact that I have been very careful with my texts since the last bill. Upon checking my bill it is definately VERY wrong. They say I have sent 248 texts to my best friend but I cannot have sent nearly this many (haven't counted but I plan to!). They say I have sent 7 to my sister but I have only ever sent her 6 since buying the iPhone in October / November. They say I sent another friend 12 messages in the last month but I have only sent 7. I NEVER delete a text and can be sure of this. Haven't had a chance to ring them yet and I'm worried as I really can't pay and need my phone very badly at the moment. Very worried and really hoping it can be sorted. I've checked the subject line thing in my settings but it's switched off. 😞 😞 :(.

Surely you can just check the log on your phone to see how many you sent. Or look on Bluebook?

Had the same problem and have spoken at length to O2 about this. Firstly apparently the new iphone software to enable a text to be sent to multiple people at the same time will convert it to a mms (was told the number of contacts is 15+ when this will happen) .. unfortunately mms are chargeable whereas texts are included in my free usage. Secondly for some reason my mms duplicated (o2 are not sure why and are looking in to it) so several of my contacts not only received mms they could not open they received 18 or 19 of them. O2 are currently saying that I owe them for about 400 mms at 35p a go !! Not impressed. Oh by the way .. I was informed that O2 were aware of this on the 26th December so could of informed everyone about sending multiple messages over New Year.

Wow, I can't imagine them charging full whack.

Unfortunatly its been like that for a while. The number of contacts unfortunately is 5:(

Have they given you any indication when they'll get back to you?
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told
