I had an email from a number claiming to be O2 with t he following info..

Hello,

Here's a picture message you've been sent from ********553.

You can send a message back from your mobile phone. But don't reply to this
email.

If it's from an unknown source best advice is to delete it.

Thanks, its just my botfriend is in Thailand and he said earlier he'd try and send me a photo. It's in the email to download but it just doesn't seem legit! Could just be a coincedence I guess.. Cheers

O2 will never request you reply to a text via email.

Perhaps contact your boyfriend to ask him if the text is from him.

To be honest it's probably cheaper using email and you can send bigger files too.

If that turns out to be legit, no wonder o2 customers fall victim to phishing scams...

I am aware of this facility for Vodafone customers but have not seen it for o2. If you are currently in an area where you are unable to download an mms (picture) then this is why it may go to an electronic account.

If unsure why not call customer service to check? No one would blame you for being cautious.

It is quite feasible to receive a text or email if an MMs delivery has failed. you can check if you have one aiting on line with the PIN received in the message https://mediamessaging.o2.co.uk/mms2legacy/dispatch.do?def=.login.page
If no PIN was received it probably isn't legit....
