O2 NOT COMPETATIVE

Anonymous
Not applicable

I was in the O2 (Blackburn store) to check out the new LG G2 and noticed the cost of the phone to buy out right was £599.99. Three are selling the LG G2 for £399.99. admittedly with their sim, but the point is i could get that unlocked at minimal cost and the LG G2 from three would cost around £190.00 less than O2.

How can O2 compete with other mobile phone retailers with their uncompetative prices.

Did you try an independent such as CPW.

o2 offer a fair deal policy where both new and existing customers get the same deal.

It does pay to shop around.

Make sure you check that networks T&c regarding unlocking.

Why should it matter to you what they charge>

If one shop is dearer than another you go elsewhere, online shops are often much cheaper for phones.

Whilst cost is a big factor, coverage is the most important. Good that you are doing some research, others don't. As always go for best coverage and price to suit your needs.

perskie it does not matter to me what price the marketing team at O2 set the price of the LG G2, what angers me is that they are not competing in the high street, in most shopping centres there will be an O2 shop and a Three shop, so a question for you perksie which shop would you buy the LG G2 from ? what is the motivation for O2 to set the retail price of the LG G2 so high, its unfortunate the some people will purchase from O2, only too found it's £200.00 cheaper at THREE.

I understand what feedback the rest of this disscussion is saying, but the fact is the LG G2 PAYG offer at Three (£399.99) is the cheapest on the high street and any online deals i have seen, So the point being i could buy the LG G2 at Three get it unlocked at a minimal price and use the best network for my area. It just angers me as to why O2 as priced the LG G2 at way above RRP and its competitors.

Obviously the marketing team think the O2 brand is enough to sell the phone and they have long since stopped competing in the market place. I for one do think they need to rethink their strategy. It's dog eat dog in todays retail world and present climate.

I still can't see why the price charged by O2 should bother you, just go and get the best price elsewhere!

Whether they are competitive or not doesn't affect you does it?

It angers me for the reasons noted in my posts. Consumers will get ripped off.

perksie i made a post to start up a discussion and gain feedback, you've made your point.

It's fair enough to raise your eyebrow at what one retailer is charging my friend and then it's down to carrying out some homework and shopping around. And then making an informed choice as to where to buy. Which is what Perksie is saying.

I used to buy mine from CPW on the cheapest payg deal on whatever network and then use my o2 sim as their phones are mostly unlocked. (iPhone excluded.)
