O2 Lease - Missold!

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi has anyone else been mislead on the O2 lease? I went into the shop to upgrade my iPhone 4 to a iPhone 4s. Was offered a 12 month contract for 12 months as an existing O2 customer 750 mins unlimited txt and bolt on of 500GB. No mention of the word lease the only thing that was mentioned was I could take the phone back and swap it for a new phone at the end of 12 months. Not even a mention of the insurance. I feel completely mislead to what I was sold and after being a content customer of O2 for 12 years feel completely let down. Anyone else come accross this?

Well, if you were happy with the number of mins, price and contract period...what's been mis-sold? The fact it also includes insurance? Are you not happy that it's a lease?
You'll need to be more specific.

Can't you return it? There should have been a statement which the shop have to read out stating all the legalities like that you have to return the phone at the end of the 12 months

I'm happy with minutes etc just not happy it is a lease I would never have taken that option as I like to keep the phone and give to family members (which I did with the last one). There was no statement read out and no mention of a lease. I'll be taking it back tomorrow!

You will have been asked to sign a CCA and a contract, which both state lease as the product and the tariff.
When did you take it back? You do still get your 14 day cooling off period.

Took it back and now happy as changed to a contract. Went to another shop as didn't have stock of what I wanted in the original one. Much better customer service and advised me I wasn't given any of the paperwork I should have received. They advised this would be dealt with. Thanks O2!
