Hello,

For the past 3 weeks I have been calling o2 to cancel multiple accounts that have been set up fraudulently. No one in the household that I live in has an account with o2, but we are being hounded with multiple letters in relation to various bought phones.

O2 keep telling me they'll get back to me in 48 hours, but they never do and this is having a serious impact on my credit score and general well being.

Please advise ASAP

@MD23

Report the fraud to the police: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Contact your bank if you think financial information has been obtained by the fraudsters. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords.

Meantime, I will tag @O2MichaelE who is on now, perhaps they can get some more info relating to your case.

Good luck! Sounds awful!

Thank you, no money has been stolen from my account, it's more contracts have been opened using our address details, meaning we are being billed for something that has nothing to do with us.

All I need is for O2 to cancel and block all accounts pertaining to the given name, it shouldn't be such a difficult task given that no one at this address has an account.

I've reported the fraud already, all I need is for O2 to confirm this is fraud and we owe no money.

Thank you for your advice.

Thank you, I've spoken to multiple members of the o2 team on the phone already and no one has given me and update and it seems like nothing has been done.

You can also reach O2 via Social Media, links just below thi post, @MD23 - if that works for you? @O2MichaelE is an O2 Advisor here in the forum, they should contact you via Private Message here (top-right envelope or "Messages" menu if you tap your avatar top right). Hope O2 can get the accounts disabled soon!

The reason no one from o2 will have given you no information or very little information, is due to the law around fraud and AML etc, is they are not legally allowed to tell you.

And until the investigations are complete, they wont make any changes to Credit Files, as no offence but it could turn out that you have been negligent with your personal data, at which point you become liable.

It might be worth adding a CIFAS marker to your Credit File, so that if anyone applies for credit using your details it will require more details, and verification.

What I would also add is make sure any thing such as Facebook or any Social media are changed and you are not posting things in a public arena that shows any personally identifiable information.

Your bank need to be made aware in case anyone now they have your personal data try's to do something more nefarious with your details...

I'm still receiving letters demanding money- my debt has apparently been sold to a debt company.

I've reported this as fraud many times and supposedly the accounts have been shut- but clearly not as I'm still being threatened.

Please advise.

@MD23 This is not O2. This is a customer community. You need to speak to customer service.
Call 0344 809 0202, 0800 902 0217 or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.
You can also reach O2 via social media:
