I have been away for the weekend and I did have my phone and tablet with me. Access to the forum was slow and full of issues. Back home now and using PC and these problems still remain ...
* Taking ages to accept my login details
* Moving from tab to tab painfully slow
* Timing out before you are able to post
* Worse than that....typing a reply to someone with loads of relevant links..and connection times out again!
(Not even sure this will post if honest)
* Posting pictures is problematic
*I just attempted to post a reply to a new topic. pressed 'post' and I was directed to login again

As usual we have to agree to disagree on that. I find looking at a spelling mistake I have made quite offensive when I can't edit.
Also another forum I belong to actually allows you to see all the posts made before you press send.
In that case I can delete mine before I even send it.
Not everyone is as fast as you Rich, and whilst I agree they should'nt be able to go back to edit purely for a solution....the fact remains we have an edit function and as such it should be fully functional. End Of...

There's no need for 90 mins then just purely for spelling mistakes?
Hang on...is this comment from the guy who was able to go in and edit his KB article after a month....at the weekend because the edit function hadn't closed down ?
Personally I leave my PC and go off and do other things...so 90 minutes might not be enough :smileytongue:. However...90 mins is what it should be...so let's please have that time allowed. What you and I believe is slightly irrelevant to the discussion I started.

Of course when the narrative IS changed I can see those changes on the emails that come into my inbox (if I have subscribed to the thread) . I get 2 emails posted by the same person, one is the original, the other is the correction.
However (and with due respect) none of that was the point of my original post last night on this thread. . The use of the edit function wasn't initially being discussed. Currently we have an edit button which should time out after 90 minutes. Last night it timed out in under an hour.
Edited to add: @gmarkj I do think that's a good idea...even though it might pose other problems

But it's all relevant to the discussion regarding editing.
I have edited my post. ....you just need to allow me time to do that before jumping in..
Whilst relative to a discussion about the edit function...there was no discussion called for in the statement I made on the forum issues thread. The issue was the edit fuction wasnt working. That was the point.

A perfect example of why editing should not be allowed
and this is a forum - people discuss, they just don't always share the same opinion
