I sent a sms yesterday, the recipient got 20% of my text and 80% of a sms that I had never written before, the text is "gobbledegook" as 2 texts have somehow merged!!,  I have seen the message on the recipients phone, it says its from me and part of the text is mine, I am really confused and may lose a friend over this, can anyone shed some light on this

I would try a new simcard from the O2 store if this continues but losing a friend over a text message that is jumbled up?

It may just be a simple glitch.

Try sending another text while your with your friend.

If you send a long text message it will send as two text messages.

Obviously I don't know the content of your text but surly a "friend" wouldn't end a friendship over a technical glitch !

I've not heard of this happening but certainly not ruling it out. I'd send a few long and short texts to your 'friend' and someone else and see what happens.

Reason I say this is, It may not be your SIM card that is at fault. If others receive texts ok and your 'friend' doesn't. It may be an issue with their card.

This exact same this happened to me last night as well!

It changed the end of my txt from "...Haha you silly Billy! x" to "...Hads off! slight_smile"

Like everyone else, its not something I've ever seen before and I had to see it to believe it! I even have screenshots to prove that it happened.

If it had been jumbled up I could have understood that there was corruption in the message sending process, but it actually added a smiley at the end haha! I can also safely say that I've never sent "hads off :)" to anyone before.

Could it have been a one time glitch in the Matrix?
