can anyone help me track an o2 mobile number to see whether it still exists to a customer or if the line has been disconnected. When i call the number, i receive this message, "The person you are phoning can't take your call, we will send them your number by text to let them know you've rung, thank you." This message has been coming on immediately without the phone ringing. Does anyone else in london have this message on their phone? what does it mean? does it mean that the customer is out of location or have their phone shut off? please, if an o2 representative can contact me, i can give you the cell number and maybe you can let me know if this mobile number belongs to someone or not. thank you.
lost.

Well lets see how the moderation is going now, I am afraid I am now flagging this post, first time for the month and will send Zoe a copy. This multi posting of things o2 can not do is not helping anyone. It is like customers just asking for a manager thinking they will get a different answer if they ask someone else. Why the 4-6 posts.
Brendan

Take it easy and stop being cheesy Brendan! Don't whine and complain and try to be a superhero "hall monitor" on these forums! It was an honest mistake, its my first time posting and i posted twice by accident, so I left it! I wasn't looking for a manager or hall monitor like urself to annoy! I asked a question about whether it is possible to find out whether an o2 number is disconnected or not! i don't care to know who it belongs to or the address or what kind of cheese they like with their whining! i just want to know if this number exist~i apologize for stepping on ur tail slight_smile no hard feelings okay Brendan? slight_smile

You got your answer several times, but you kept asking. Not only that but you did it in a not very nice way, its no wonder people were short with you.

To the op. The message you got means the number is allocated somewhere, if it was unused you would have been told it's not recognised or got a continuous tone.

Thank You! Finally a REAL ANSWER! Because i'm not from the UK, and I don't know what kind of blurb o2 uses for a disconnected numbers. In Canada, its "the number you have reached is not connected..".

This day and age, the word "stalker" means anyone who's poking you on facebook a kazillion times!
My issue is private and if you are an O2 representative, please private message me and I can expand on my concerns with regards to the issue I am dealing with.
Many thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to my posts. I"m not that mean...

Now you're beginning to get it, all phone numbers issued by O2 in the UK are also private and you will not be given any details at all about a number.
Using words like "Emergency" makes no difference, and if it were ever an emergency, which is doubtful, you would have sought another way to contact this person you seem so desperate to trace.
If you don't believe us why don't you contact O2 directly instead of repeating yourself incessantly here?

Send it a txt message with the symbols *0# in the body. It will send you back a report if the number is still connected and the phone is on to accept the message. (send yourself the same message to see how your particular phone responds)
I could never get my last two phones to get delivery reports natively on O2 - this GSM code seems to be the only way.
