Interesting statement by Ronan Dunne regarding future handset subsidies. Are they going to be removed completely and will the independent retailers be laughing all the way to the bank?

With their parent company Telefonica Spain removing subsidies in March, is that something we can expect from O2 and the other major networks?

Buying your own handset & taking out a monthly or even 12 month sim only deal is the way forward instead of 18 / 24 month contract phones on the drip.

PAYG can stay as it is for the cheaper / low use end of the mobile phone market.

You'll also get the threads where people will have been in line for hours to get a new iPhone 5 & didn't get one as there wasn't enough stock

Only ever had 1 18 month contract and never ever again. Hated it and I now buy my own handset and go on either 1 month rolling or 12 month simplicity. Never have 18 or 24 month again.
