I do hope we haven't frightened them off.

I think it has taken us all by surprise, seeing an apparently genuine attempt by an O2 staff member to offer their help on the forum.

I would like to welcome the presence and wish them every success.

I hope our gentle teasing will be taken with the humour with which it's intended. slight_smile

500 Internal Server Error.

We can't exactly send them to Coventry can we? grin

First of guys, i am an o2 guru so I am a real prescence within these forums.

Secondly there is quite a few queries on here so we'll see what we can do...

@ prking, where is this error coming up, is it on your mobile phone?

@ sheepdog, we try to help with as much technical information as we can, some of us are trained within certain fields but predominantly we are mobile phone technical support. The server not found/error 500 on these forums and indeed on all websites would be due to many things, one could be that the server simply cannot handle the amount of requests coming through at one time so it restricts the access until it can process it properly.

@ mrbubba, your HTC hero, was it purchased from another network and was it unlocked? If the phone is unlocked it can be difficult (near impossible) to get the settings, simply if the network doesnt support the handset on the network then it cant be done but most all handsets are. The HTC Hero isnt on the O2 network at all and I don't think the network will be doing it.

@ perksie, I am a rugby player, so any mocking, teasing or anything like that is always taken in light (trust me, this is nothing compared to the stuff you see and hear on tour grin !), as for your 500 error query I believe i answered that above.

I hope this has helped you all in some way or form, please bee patient with myself and my colleagues as we have limited access to this forum due to being in store as well as supporting our colleagues within the company and attending various training events.

As I said above, myself and my colleagues will endeavor to answer your queries as best we can, but if we don't have the answers then we will find them out so be patient with us and you'll get your answers.

Cheers guys!

Well that didn't explain what the poll was about.
The error I asked about is generated by the O2 proxy when browsing on a handset.
The answer you give about HTC MMS, is rather strange. Its almost as if you are answering a different question. The settings are available and were entered but mrcbubba isn't receiving MMS. I suspect that wanty's answer is closer to the truth.

Incidentally, your reply to sheepdog is not quite correct. Error 503 would indicate that the server is overloaded. Error 500, which sheepdog mentions, indicates that the server has encountered an error. (This is probably a mis-configuration of the server)

prking, in respect to the HTC MMS response I gave, I am working with the experiences I have in store, other Guru's may have other experiences within this field and when they view this thread maybe they can share their experiences and knowledge to shed light on the issues. I'll openly admit that I may be wrong but as I say that I am working with my experiences I have seen here in store.

The proxy error that you're experiencing, have you contacted the customer services on their end to see if there is anything they need to do their end or is it only certain sites?

As for the poll, it was an attempt to see how we're doing in terms of helping you guys out there

I wont claim to know everything in the world of mobiles and technology, but then again we are all human and can make mistakes once in a while so bear with us, we are trying to help you guys as much as we can without having to get you into the stores (saving you a journey). Some queries cant be delt with by us so the best thing to do is contacting the customer services who have access to a "2nd line" technical support with more access to systems etc

Thanks for the response, the 500 Internal server error, which I've just had with my first visit to the forum today, is something I only see in the O2 Forum, using a pc on broadband.

It only occurs with any regularity on this web site, and dozens have asked the forum about it.

We can only assume it's a configuration error in the way the site is built.

I have seen this over the last 2 years and quite a few have reported it to CS, but it never improves.

It's not an issue that I've seen or been aware of with the forum, as I'm fresh to the forum myself (as of yesterday actually!) If the error has been reported already and there's been no improvement then I can only assume that you're right in saying that its down to the website's build.

If I get any information about this (i.e. any resolutions being planned etc) then I'll post them here as soon as they come out, but such a thing is out of our control unfortunately

But we need to have a specific question/answer forum for that poll to actually work in the way you intend! That and several stickies as many questions get repeated.

It looks like, although I may be wrong that the poll is to capture feedback responces from those that have seeked help face to face with us from within the retail stores we operate.

So it should not read:

What the information you received useful?

but:

Was the help from the O2 Shop you visited useful?

That would be my mistake, I was in the middle of dealing with something in the store when I was doing it...I didnt even realise it!

Please ignore this poll as it's null and void. If you find the information we provide useful please just say so in a post, this is just so that we can keep a track on how we are performing for you guys
