Hi everyone,
I've got a very small data cap on my current pay monthly plan (100mb) because I'm rarely outside of wifi coverage. If I hit the limit, it has never been an issue before because O2 have just slowed down the service in the past. So when I had an iPhone, this meant that iMessage still worked. Now that I have an Android, it means that Hangouts would still work. The internet was generally unusable for other purposes, but texting is all I really use it for outside of wifi anyway.
This month seems to be different though. My bill is due to reset within the next couple of days, and I hit the cap this evening by accident. I noticed that immediately hangouts could no longer sent or received, and every attempt to access a website was replaced with this: www.o2.co.uk/data-allowance
Everything on their website still says "once you reach the limit you'll receive a slower service", nothing indicates that you'll be cut off immediately. I've received no emails or letters saying that they've changed my service either. Does anyone have any idea what's happened/going on?

This has now changed and your internet use will stop when you are out of data.
This was already allowed for in the terms so they didn't have to give notice.
They seem to have gone with the other networks on this as far as I can tell and they had been effectively giving everyone free data.
