Community Ranks: Help us decide!

Hi guys,

One of our members; @MI5 has performed the magnificent feat of reaching the top of our rank system. While this is an awesome thing, it now means that we need more ranks!

Now, we can go about this in 3 ways:

- We change the existing ranks' level-up criteria, so that everyone moves down and the gaps between ranks become wider (I don't like this one ;P).

- We add more on the end, so that we keep what we have, but those nearer the top have more ranks to climb.

- We create a brand new set, using a suggested theme or topic. This one would however take longer to implement.

I'd love to hear from you all and which you'd prefer. Also, any and all suggestions for themes, topics or ranks themselves would be much appreciated. You're the ones who will have the ranks, so take some time to offer your views

Well going off some of the names already in existence. ....I'm sure @Anonymous would agree

Brilliant @jonsie   -  that high-flying photo-posting has to rank as the outstanding achievement for September rewards!  Must be a worth a case or two of Fosters.

Now you worry me @jonsie   Can't allow myself to be getting a reputation for agreeing!!!  Management would have to find another whipping boy!!!       (now sitting back, having a nice cuppa whilst awaiting demand for an explanation of what that means and how it might help sort out the Community Ranks issue.  )

I'm not bothered about ranks myself, but I can appreciate that they're a fun way to motivate members, and encourage involvement in community forums (a gamification strategy I believe).

But there's one or two current ranks that seem out of place. I'd be disappointed to be promoted to "Veteran", if I'd previously been a "Forum Legend", or a "Digital Don".

That last rank conjures up an image of the mafia, but I guess it was supposed to have more of an academic feel to it, like a lecturer perhaps

Not particularly keen on two others I have 'experienced' either, if honest. Midshipman seemed totally wrong somehow....and I said before I dislike Guvnor.

Makes me feel like a pub landlord...or a prison warden....oh hang on.... wait a minute...

So the team and I have decided that we like this set that @MI5 has created from all of the suggestions. I will however add a few more in-between these to give us a few more levels.
