I beg to differ. The first time I got the raging hump with O2, over a non O2 contractual issue such a letter had absolutely the desired effect. I was appointed a personal contact who, I presume, banged the relevant heads together to my complete satisfaction.
And you think you're going to get O2 to not close the email service? Dream on.

I'm just saying that if enough of us 'punters', sorry 'customers', vote with our feet, as I am going to do, it might give the bright spark who dreamt this up some pause for thought. I return to my earlier point as well. A few weeks notice is just not good customer relations.
I agree that O2 should have given its customers more notice, but I honestly don't think it will make a bit of difference. I think that if you intend on voting with your feet you should make sure you will get good signal coverage from whichever network you decide to move to. There have been many instances of people having knee jerk reactions over certain issues and then finding that the grass isn't necessarily greener once they've moved.

That part of Bob's signature is there because the O2 staff are suffering too and many of their jobs are going, maybe not as important to you as your email account, but it is to them.

I have been with o2 since it was Genie also, they have on occasion upset me but I have swallowed my pride and stayed faithful, look what you have done over the year/two years, my o2 email was my primary email, that's for about 15 + years! Thousands of people, personal, non personal, business, Internet sign ins etc a massive a mount and not humanly possible for me to inform eveyone that I have change my email address. When I joined I was told there and then that having an o2 email was part and parcel of my contract and signing with o2, years later I received a phone call asking if I would accept my bill via email, my o2 email, OK no probs saves money, eco friendly!!! You took away the '0' options from your phone menu so no one could go direct to a 'person' in currier service, your 'new and Customer' website is no longer user fiend but when you go to contact use you can't contact o2 you get a question and answer service that doesn't flaming help, when I actually did get through to o2 customer service two of three occasions I asked for someone in management to call me back and that did not happen, and still hasn't, on one occasion I was told that it was pointless because "they are going ahead with it anyway" - Shiite customer service' and yes I am qualified to teach customer service, then without warning I get an email telling me that they did a survey and that most people do not use their o2 email!!!!! OK first when did anyone get this survey because EVERY o2 user I know has stated they did not get or complete any survey, second they ALL use their o2 email, three you have not given ample notice (bad due care to the customer) and you have not even offered any back up such as a years worth of 'forwarding' to a new email address, when I consulted my legal rep and he checked o2 had stated that they had planned to do this in 2012??? Also that if the email is mentioned in the 'terms and conditions' then o2 are in breach of contract, I have still yet to check this but if it is so the guess what o2, some form of legal action!!!! You are no longer a customer friendly company, you have also lost another four customers, when my contracts (I have two) end they WILL NOT be renewed and I will go elsewhere - thank you for your passed service, the future you can forget as it will not happen

Glad you got that off your chest. The O2 email was a free service and yes, it is going to cause a massive inconvenience to some people. There are ongoing threads discussing this issue if you wish to browse them and add your thoughts.
When you change network I would resist using them as your main email provider and use Gmail or other email client.

That's fair enough, but your mobile contracts would have been unaffected.
