I've had lots of issues porting-in to O2 from Giffgaff. It took about 25 days for my old number to work on my shiny new phone, and even then only folks on the O2 mobile network could call or text me. Took another week or so to fix that issue.
I still have some weird residual issues - one of them is on 0345 numbers. I can call out, I can hear hold music, I can hear the other person answering, and then either they can't hear me, or the call just drops. Annoying because my bank uses 0345 and they use my Caller ID as one part of their security!
I can call them on Skype, or from other phones, and I can successfully call other folks from my phone - all except for 0345 numbers. It's currently escalated to the "Faults" team. Anybody else had this and had it fixed?

Have to admit that's a new one to me.
You said residual issues...what are they

Thanks
Will have to see about the 0345 issue. Can't see we have had that before
Assume it is the same if you put your SIM in another phone

@Enlli - Hmm. Well I thought that using another phone would have the same result - but no! My old iPhone with my new SIM was able to call 0345 numbers. It was also able to send an SMS text to my buddy on Android/O2 (which was another issue). So I quickly jumped back to my new phone, which again made an 0345 connection, but the call dropped after about 10 seconds (a couple of times). And the SMS wouldn't send on my new phone. I turned off wifi and mobile data also, but same issues. I'm perplexed now.

Sounds more like a phone settings problem then.
What if you do a network reset on the new phone

I try that on a daily basis! I'm on 02 61.1 currently.

Definitely not.
