"Upgrade on us after 12 months" Woes!!

Anonymous

So I got the 6s Plus 128GB on launch last year, on the 30GB "upgrade on us after 12 months trade-in" tarriff.

The iPhone 7 is on pre-order tomorrow, for release on the 16th.

Unfortunately, I can't use the "upgrade on us after 12 months" trade-in to pre-order because 12 months isn't until the 25/09.

Grrrrrrr. Can't help feeling a little played.

Think I'll use the Envirofone lock-in I had for £480, pay off my device plan (with a bit of change left over) and just get the new phone (7s Plus 256GB) from Apple on their payment plan.

"When they have stock"...... and there's my concern, right there.

What are the chances of a nice shiny black 128GB 7 plus being around a week after launch ?

Im getting more than I need to pay the phone off from Envirophone, and I can order tomorrow and refresh next friday.

And my anniversary is a week earlier for the Iphone 8 next year, when I expect a big spike in demand.

Don't you mean the "nice shiny scratchy black one"? Which means you need a case or you can forget about the trade-in value. Refurb black models might actually be extremely good value at some point in the next few months I reckon. Won't be surprised if it becomes extremely limited once the complaints start rolling in and it becomes a discontinued colour.

So you are basically doing an upgrade like normal, but they take your device off you and pay the device plan off and take your phone. Considering what I can get with envirofone exceeds my current outstanding device balance, I think I'll just do the upgrade like normal tomorrow or get the upgrade program with Apple.

All I see with the "fab" deal is that I get less £ for trading in my device, and have to wait 2 weeks before I can get my new one.

I assume you don't get anything off your new contract by doing the trade-in? For example a with a "normal" upgrade you would make a downpayment for the handset, but with the trade-in you don't?

Im making more money from envirophone than my settlement figure, rather than just giving the phone back.

So I'll just pay off the outstanding credit next Friday, make sure I ge tthe phone I want with no risk of stock shortages and bring my new annual refresh date up to 16th Sept.

Strikes me the annnual upgrade scheme isnt the most attractive offer in all cases....But then if there is a major remodelling of the iphone next year and huge demand I will be glad of it so that I have a good place in the queue.

Just upgraded without using the "free" upgrade option. Was painful as the website crashed when I ordered at 8.02 and lost my basket. Finally finished order at 8.30 and 2 weeks delivery.

I appreciate that you are probably a bit miffed but paragmatically youv'e only got to wait 9 days........ which let's be honest isnt a long time. Apprciate you probably want it at launch and I bet all those Samsung users that wanted to be the first to have the new device thought the same until thier phones started to spotaneously combust. May be 9 days isnt a long time in the greater scheme of things..

estimated delivery is now well into october and november for some models and thats if you order right now  in 2 weeks it will be longer unless apple increases supply

i now see that other networks  are doing the upgrade on us offer and with a sep 16th 2017 upgrade date they are showing how poor o2 upgrade offer last year was.

Hi All, took two plans under the following terms for my family members. Waiting 12 months is not a problem but I have to say I am really annoyed at O2.

The point some are raising about checking the condition of the handset what was the

  • Free Accidental Damage and Breakdown Cover for?

Both phones are in perfect working order in excellent condition but if they were smashed to bits I would still be expecting an upgrade reagardless. Checking the plans and prices I have decided to sell both phones to envirofone pay of the device plan and move to sim only. Reserved two phones for collection next Friday at apple store Bluewater.

You should have got a copy of your credit agreement when you signed up.

You get:

  • 30GB of UK data. And free wifi at thousands of O2 Wifi hotspots
  • Unlimited minutes to call any standard UK mobile or standard UK landline (the ones that start 01, 02, 03)
  • Unlimited UK text messages
  • Free Accidental Damage and Breakdown Cover
  • Trade in and upgrade at no extra cost after 12 months
