Well, I 've just requested my unlock this evening so let's see if I finally get the iP5 unlocked

OK got my emailstating iP5 is now unlocked - do I need ot do anything more or can I simply get a cheep PAYG sim from another supplier to see if the reception is better with them?

mark you need a non o2 sim in the iphone and connect to itunes to complete the unlock.

@davethorp I have only had it done via Itunes so it is good to know that is no longer required, strange apple have not updated there advice here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5014 and I have never done a backup, erase and restore just connected to itunes with a non o2 sim and job done.

Do you have to be the original owner to get the iphone 5 unlocked ?
If ive bought an O2 locked phone 5 off ebay will they still unock it ?
The reason i ask is vodafone dont allow it.They contact the original owner to unlock it.

As far as I'm aware you should be able to unlock it using a P&G sim with the necessary amount of credit on the sim. Must have been used to make calls in the UK with the P&G sim.
I'm sure one of the O2 contributors will correct this if wrong.
