iMessage/FaceTime won't activate on your new iPhone? This worked for me...

Hello,

I received my new iPhone 5S yesterday and spent the rest of my evening trying to figure out why neither iMessage nor FaceTime would activate on it. All my email addresses were there as addresses I could be reached on, but my phone number was "greyed out".

I had gone down the delete TuGo route with no luck, reset my network settings with no luck, "turned it off and on agan", with no luck. I was going NUTS!

What fixed it in the end was so simple I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but it might help someone else, so...

If you're moving from one iPhone to another and iMessage and FaceTime won't activate on your new one, try deleting your iCloud account from your old iPhone.

*facepalm*

It's all a learning curve for each and everyone of each every day.

The point is you resolved your issue and took the time to leave this information to help others.

We'll done.

Thanks, BoB.

If this had only been my second iPhone I wouldn't be so hard on myself. It's my FIFTH!

Couldn't see the wood for the trees, I guess slight_smile

I find that when something's not going right it helps me to step back. Count to 10 and hit google.

Ha! That's what I spent all evening yesterday doing! In the end it was a simple case of; I was preparing my 4S for O2 Recycle and, when I deleted all the settings and data on it, iMessage and FaceTime sprang to life on the 5S.

It was truly a "Are you kidding me? Why wasn't that the FIRST thing I did?!" moment slight_smile
