Picture messages not sending/being received

Anonymous
Not applicable

Been on live chat with O2 guru for ages this morning trying to get this sorted...no luck!  Picture messages not sending on my Iphone 4s iOS 7.1.1. He's had me trying all sorts of different settings then told me to go into a store as by the time he'd finished i had completely lost the option to text a picture at all. Can anyone help? It has got to be a setting somewhere....i kept texting 2020 'active' and it kept telling me i hadn't got an iphone!  This isn't happeing all the time-sometimes i can send pictures which is what i don't understand...also visual voicemail not working & someone at work said this means settings are wrong?

Any help appreciated 🙂

Intermittent faults are the worse ones to solve.
The only suggestion I have is to get CS to reprovision MMS on your account.
This means they have to remove it and then reapply it 24 hours later. You also need to wait a further 24 hours after this for the system to update fully.

Check your apn settings.

Alternatively O2 APN's can be found here : http://www.geeksquad.co.uk/articles/o2-apn-settings

As your intermittently getting them they should be ok.

Ask Cs in the phone to re provision your account for mms. Don't use live chat.

As mms needs a data connection a poor connection etc can affect receiving and sending them.

Try cleaning the sim and contacting Cs just to have your account checked on 202.

You can check your status here.

http://status.o2.co.uk

With your full postcode.

To add alternatives such as viber and what's app are available as long as the other parties have yhem downloaded or even e mail.

40p a mms from O2 is a little high IMO.

@Anonymous I had bother getting and sending MMS messages when I got my Galaxy S4 Android - until I discovered that you have to be connected via 3G (or presumably 4G if that is available)  whereas I was connected via wifi to my BT Home Hub. When I switched to 3G MMS worked.  Sorry if this is a silly response but thought I would mention it anyway.

Hi All

Yes MMS do need a gsm signal such as 3g to work.

If you or the OP are in a 2g area you may also MMS more likely to fail than not. If I get an MMS in from anyone whilst in my home area I have to text them and ask them to either email it or send via a messenger service like whatsapp or viber or I have to drive to a 3g area! !!!
