Hi all,
On previous iphone's I had the option to turn off 3g - now I only have a 'disable 4g' option.
My tariff doesn't include 4g so not fully sure why i'd even have this option.
Reason for wanting to switch off 3g is to stop the phone constantly seeking it out - I live in an area where 3g reception is very flaky and i'd just rather be on the normal network. I have wifi so don't really need fast downloads.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Once a public jailbreak is released it is then possible, but until then (unless Apple change it) we are stuck!
I'm in a similar situaton - supposed to have excellend coverage indoors and outdoors for all bands, but in reality 3G is rubbish and keeps dropping to no service.
In situations like this in the past I have forced to 2G and all has been well.
So completely agree it needs to come back, only feedback can help this!
In the meantime, an option is TuGo - set it to use wifi and then put your phone into airplane mode, turn on only wifi - sorted.

If that's the case then I don't understand why I still have the option to toggle 3G on and off on my iPhone 5 on iOS 7.0.2
My carrier updates are up to date.
Weird.
Guess as 4G is not available on PAYG you haven't had the 4G carrier file pushed.

Possible explanation.
It's a pain but the TuGu app seems to be saving me for now

No use for me tho. 😞
Not for Payg customers.
Just glad I can still toggle it off and on !
Ah, that's not good!
You need to stay on your current plan then so you don't loose the toggle
One thing which may help people is when 4G properly arrives as the 800mhz band O2 have penetrates buildings better and travels a lot further...so may resolve signal issues and remove the need for disabling 3G.
Hopefully!
