4s texting issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

We both have iPhone 4's, mine on contract and wife's on payg. Since we got her unlocked phone from the Apple store, she has trouble texting.

The SMS centre number is always set on the pay monthly and we have reset the sms centre number to the payg every day when she switches it on. 02 say it not them and have told us to reset the network, reset the phone and restore which we have but with no luck. It must be an 02 issue as what else would change the SMS centre number. I can only presume they have something set wrong on the account but they keep saying no.

Anyone with any advise and anyone else had this issue

Thanks

o2 do have seperate sim cards for pay monthly and payg.

you could order one online and then use the swap mysim form to activate the sim to the payg you have.

It may be you have a pay monthly micro sim that has the pay monthly message center stored on it.

Seems weird. The message centre number is stored on the phone though so unlikely to be O2 resetting it.

If you go to settings > phone > my number, does it show your phone number?

Originally it did not and I have tried with both the 077 & +4477 and does not work

Thanks

I could be wrong but doesn't all uk carriers have a slightly different version of iOS to carry their settings?

This is most wierd. Out of interest does the number revert when the phone isn't turned off and on?
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

Yes they do, but as Glenn's mentioned, O2 have different message centre numbers for prepay and pay monthly customers, but I'm fairly sure the bloke from my local O2 shop told me they don't have separate stock for prepay and pay monthly iPhones - which leads me to think it's down to the sim card.

If you go to settings > phone > sim applications > get settings, does that do anything?

It has to read off the SIM as it's an unlocked phone from Apple - how else would it know what SIM was in?

Hi All and thanks for your suggestions. The phone is an unlocked model from the apple store so won't be running any tweaked 02 os.

02 have been no help and I don't think this is a phone issue do to the sms centre number as it would never have come with 1. We did get a new sim when we collected the phone from the Apple store so guess Adamtemp64 could be right here. You would think 02 customer services would have may be thought about it so I have ordered a new sim and will let you know the outcome when it arrives.

Thanks All

Ok new sim arrived today and all working thanks Adamtemp64. Can't seem by 02 never thought of it. Been driving her nuts for the last 4-5 months.

Looked at the invoice today afer digging it out to find out it was a post pay sim.

Thanks all
