iMessage setup on iPhone etc

Anonymous
Not applicable

After recently having issues with iMessage not sending iMessages to other iPhone users I know. I was able to solve it by doing the following.

On iPhone:

Go into Settings, scroll down till you see Messages, touch this, next touch the SEND & RECEIVE section. For iMessage to work correctly do not sign in with Apple ID. And only have your phone number selected in the YOU CAN BE REACHED BY iMESSAGE AT, section.

Also, if you have an iPhone and iPad which have the same Apple ID and you are wanting to be able to send iMessages between the iPhone & iPad and vice versa, then you can do the following to ensure everything works fine.

On the iPad:

For iMessage:
Go into Settings, scroll down till you see Messages, touch this, touch the Send & receive section, and sign in with Apple ID and make sure that only the email address is ticked in the YOU CAN BE REACHED BY iMESSAGE AT, section.

iMessage should now function perfectly slight_smile

Nice write up Fatboy.

I also think there is 1 more setup scenario for those who have an iPhone and iPad and/or Mac, and who want to keep iMessage in sync with all their devices.

Let me know if you want to include it, and I will respond back with details.

Yeah go for it buffbuff: more info's better than less, and all that.

(peeps, check the similar Facetime setup on iPhone, etc thread.)
